She’d recalled his birthday from the year before and really barely felt like she’d had any time at all to retrieve an appropriate gift for him. Regardless, it had been done, and really the only appropriate time to deliver it seemed in the morning. Thankfully, the full heat of the day hadn’t settled in yet, and the jacket - especially one that covered just barely to her knees, leaving only her long black stockings showing - was a bit out of place for this time of the year, but not overly hot due to this. Regardless, the trip had been taken from her house to his apartment without any issue, and the small box remained in a jacket pocket all along. A quick jaunt up the steps to Drake’s apartment landed her easily in front of the door, and pausing - a hand shifted down pushing at a pocket of the jacket which had remained tied carefully around her waist to check for the gift - she then reached up to knock. He’d been getting ready - no hoverbike racing this year, and what with Vivi’s engagement party and all of the councilors being invited, he was sure that Merri would be going to that - for his annual birthday outing when the knock came. A quick glance at the clock told him it was most assuredly not Ari - too early - which only meant that it was probably Mer, laden down with apologies for missing whatever thing Drake was planning this year. And this year’s plan was even better than last year’s. (He’d have to make sure to stop by Rene’s to get his annual birthday kiss.) Dressed in a pair of loose trousers and nothing else, he padded over to the door, threw open the door, and started saying, “Really, Merri, it’s fine” before he realized that Merri wasn’t a tall, leggy woman that looked remarkably like one Aspel Cassul. “Uh. Aspel. Hi.” Smooth, Liu, real smooth. An eyebrow quirked up quickly, the beginning of a smirk pulling at one corner of her mouth as he began to speak, and then stopped. While Drake attempted to right his incorrect assumption Aspel simply allowed her eyes to roam over his bare torso. "Not quite the greeting I had expected either if that makes this a bit easier." And really, while she had perhaps expected a bit of awkward stammering of some sort or another this hadn't quite been the plan. Regardless, Aspel could make it work. Shifting in closer to him she'd attempt a - only slightly - heated kiss, but was also careful not to cross the threshold into his house. Leaning back, a wicked smile began to form. "May I?" A hand gestured towards the inside of his house to indicate that she was asking to come in. Drake blinked as she pulled away, trying to clear the sudden fog from his mind as he processed the question. “Um, yeah, of course. Come in.” He moved back to allow her entry, closing the door behind her. And that was when he noticed the coat. He frowned. “Are you cold?” he asked. He could see that her legs were covered in stockings - not surprising since Vivi’s party was this afternoon - but not anything else about her outfit. Stepping in a slight smile pulled at her lips before her weight shifted, pausing after entering just long enough to steal another kiss before remaining standing toe-to-toe with him. "Perhaps of a sort." And with that she attempted to repress the smile that clearly wished to spread. "Would you care to assist in a warming of sorts?" Oh. Oh. Some days, he was a little slow on the uptake. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. “I suppose I could help you with that. I mean, I’d hate for you be cold and all.” He tugged at the back of her coat. “I’ve heard skin to skin is the quickest way to warm up.” The grin he gave her was a little mischievous. Her own smirk widened at his sudden catching on and insistence of the removal of her jacket. “Perhaps a seat?” An eyebrow quirked as she shifted, attempting to leisurely remove herself from his grasp. “Unwrapping gifts is much easier that way, no?” One of these days, this woman wasn’t going to baffle him as much as she did; he was sure of it. But he loosened his grip and allowed her to extricate herself from him, and followed her to the couch. “So, I get a present?” He’d thought Aspel was his present, but now that he thought about it, she did seem the sort to give him something tangible. He really hoped it wasn’t another cactuar. “Indeed.” Her smirk remained somewhat wicked, fingers trailing over his chest absently attempting to entice him into following along. With that, Aspel would move towards the couch, gesturing passively for Drake to take a seat with a single eyebrow quirked. “Would you care to take a seat?” Dutifully, Drake took a seat. “You know,” he started, because he still felt a little awkward around Aspel in general, “you didn’t have to get me a present.” Most of his friends generally got him a small token - tea, a book, food - but unless Aspel had a cannister of nice tea in her pockets, he doubted that that was what he was getting. There was zero chance, as far as he knew, that it would be anything expensive. Maybe she made the cactuar a hat? "Indeed, I did not." However, clearly that hadn't stopped her. A moment would be taken waiting for him to take a seat before she would take one arm, moving it out of the way and allowing her to sit in his lap. "However, it was a part of my desires to assure that I obtained something for you on what should be quite the special day." Shifting her weight in his lap Aspel reached back, a hand sliding into one pocket of huge jacket before pausing. "Eyes closed." The two words were playful in their own regard as she smirked at him. "I would loath to ruin the full surprise." She'd wait for a moment, patiently allowing him time to follow along with the instruction presented before pulling a card from the pocket and leaning in, pressing a long, slow burning kiss against his lips while slipping the card into his hand. If this was his present, he was definitely not going to complain. He relaxed into the kiss, intent to thoroughly enjoy it. The card being pressed into his hand barely even registered, and when it did, he figured he could ignore it for a little while longer. After all, it wasn’t every day he had Aspel in his lap kissing him. Although he had her a little more frequently than he had in the past, which caused him to smile a little into the kiss before he pulled back. The card was still in his hand, but he was content to just look at Aspel. “That was a nice present,” he teased. “Ah, I fear you are mistaken.” A finger rose, tapping at the card that had been pressed into his hand as she shifted, leaning in to nip at his ear before whispering into it. “This is just the beginning.” It was hard to focus on opening the envelope when she was nibbling on his ear, but he managed to get the card out. There was a cartoon cactuar on it and Drake rolled his eyes before opening it. Inside was a receipt. A quick glance at it told him it was for a pair of shoes and scrawled at the bottom was a name and location. Aspel’s handwriting was under that, a quick note to go and see that guy for a fitting. Drake burst out into a grin. “You know,” he teased, “you don’t have to buy me shoes to make me happy. I’m not Ari.” But he leaned forward and kissed her, nipping her bottom lip. “No?” There was the faintest hint of a tease in her voice. “A pity. I was hoping it would be that easy, it would make my life much simpler if it were.” The kiss was met with a pleased hum in her throat, and her fingers shifting to trail down his chest. Though, when it broke a low chuckle was restrained as she raised an eyebrow at him, fingers falling to gesture for him to feel welcome to go under the jacket. “And now for your second gift, no?” “I’m really easy, though,” he replied, his hands sliding to the hem of her jacket and slowly sliding his fingers under it. “I mean, for example. If a beautiful woman showed up on my doorstep in nothing but heels and a trench coat, that would be a pretty fantastic present.” His hand traveled up her bare thighs and stopped when he felt the edge of what was probably lacy lingerie. His grin widened. “Especially if said beautiful woman was wearing sexy lingerie underneath that trench coat.” “Is that so?” There was a thoughtful amusement to her tone. A thought flickered by, perhaps wondering if she’d come a bit over prepared but… The new look on his face told her she may be jumping to conclusions a bit soon. “Ah, well.” Aspel attempted to restrain the smirk trying to appear. “I fear we may yet have a problem then Councilor Liu.” And what that was, well, she’d lead him on just a smidge longer before getting into it. That was half the fun, right? |
