The bath was big enough for two. Which, really, in situations like this, was ideal. From the mission they’d been on earlier, Ceres hair was a wreck, her body had been covered with splotches of blood. Both her own, and that of their enemies. This was one of the only ways she’d really be able to get the mess of that fight off of her skin, and away from her mind. Steam from the bath had fogged over any windows or mirrors that lined the walls, and Ceres moved, working to strip away what little armor she wore, and her clothing for the day. “That had to be the longest day ever,” came the voice of the shorter blonde who entered behind her. “I can’t wait to just pass out later.” It was a testament to just how tiring the work had really been, considering she’d usually go out for a few drinks, dance away her worries, then pass out. But for tonight, a good soak and some soft sheets were the chosen remedy. Also, Ceres hair was a mess and she really needed to wash it. It wasn’t that Ceres didn’t know how to wash it. The knight had just been staring at it on the way back to the guildhall with sadness. It was a sad day when her hair wasn’t a beautiful sunshine spun gold cascade. So, Eden was going to fix that. Her armor, as light as it was, thunked against the floor as she didn’t bother to pile it neatly anywhere. Instead, there was just a trail littered toward the bath until she just climbed in and sunk down into the water, until it went over her head. It was the best thing. A frown had begun to heavily pull at Ceres lips, a bit of crossness was still settled into her bones from the events of earlier in the day. Yet, it seemed more important to get out of their bloodied and battered gear than to pick fights in the moment. With that though, the armor was dispatched, and then the speed knight began to work at the sections of soaked clothing. “Need help?” A brief glance was cast over to Eden to see if the other woman was having problems as well, but the question was still pointed, short. Even though it seemed to offer assistance, at the same time, it still came off hard, almost as if Ceres didn’t actually want to assist but was going to ask out of some unspoken code regardless. Eden’s head popped up just in time to catch the other woman’s question, not that she answered right away. The heat had seeped into her body, loosening her muscles and basically turning her into jello. “I think I am turning into a flan,” she said before pleasantly sinking to the point of the water being under her nose. Then she blew some bubbles. “Right.” Was the curt reply as Ceres finished removing the last bit of her clothing, dropping it off into one specific pile instead of allowing the items to leave a trail behind her like Eden had done just moments before. Sighing with annoyance, the speed knight would make her way - avoiding the landmines of clothing and armor - over to the tub before climbing over and slowly - trying to hold back a hiss of pain - she lowered herself in. Eden had learned long ago to brush off Ceres' attitude, so the tone of her voice didn't bother her at all. She watched as her partner finished undressing. Then she pulled her legs up so that her knees touched her chest, as the woman climbed in. While the tub was big enough for two, she doubted that Ceres wanted to sit on her feet. The hiss made Eden's brows knit with worry. She sat up a little more so that the water lapped at her chin. "Maybe you should go see a healer again in the morning." “I can fix it.” The words were low, a defensive grumble of sorts as Ceres began to settle into the bath, slowly beginning to relax in the hot water. It would take a bit to get all of the mess cleaned off of her, but in the end they’d walk out good as new. It was a deadly dance they engaged in being rangers, but one they knew full well the risks of everyday they spent on the field. After a beat, Ceres spoke again. “You ran off.” Her words were a bit accusing, and quite pointed all on their on. "Well, maybe they can give you something for the pain," the knight said, she hoped, helpfully. Eden didn't like to see her partner hurt, even if their line of work basically ended up with them in bandages most of the time. She just had a strong habit of fussing over people she cared about. Ceres was the person she'd stuck to the most and spent the most time with, therefore the person she cared about the most. "I didn't run off." It was her turn to be defensive. "I was fighting where I was needed. You don't have to baby me." “Don’t do it again.” The response was short, clearly not interested in having any of Eden’s excuses in a time like this. Though, the normal annoyance mixed with displeasure and frustration wasn’t apparent in the speed knight’s features this time as it would be with just about anyone else. Though, as far as she was concerned, until Dire chimed up again, there was no point in continuing that line of conversation at all. A light sigh escaped, and Ceres shifted, trying to sink down into the bath even more. Eden's face screwed up, clearly not pleased with being told not to do something. She wasn't going to explain that she couldn't wait for her. Someone needed help immediately and a moment later people could have been dead. "Just turn around," she said prodding the other woman's leg with her foot. She'd work out her frustration on cleaning the gunk out of Ceres' hair. It was a calming exercise for her anyway. There was no question, but another wince was given as Ceres shifted to obey the comment from Dire. It would take a moment or two of stiff, slow movements before the speed knight had finally gotten into a position where Eden could appropriately reach her. “Here?” Briefly, eyes slipped over her own shoulder back towards the other woman to assure this was a position that would work. Eden had shifted her body so that Ceres could easily situate herself between them. "That's good." She said picking up the cup beside them on the stool and started to pour the water over the other woman's head until her hair was fully saturated. She watched as the dirt and grime slid out of the dampened locks into the water and slowly ran her fingers through the strands to help anything else that might have been stuck there was well. Once she was satisfied with that, she grabbed the shampoo and began to lather it in her hands, before slipping her fingers into the other woman's hair. Eden worked them methodically, gently massaging the woman's scalp as she did so. While she could have used soap, she liked the soft floral scent of the other cleanser much better. Eyes would fall closed to assure no muck got into them, and the speed knight would attempt to relax. There was no need to be overly defensive here, herself and Dire had done this at least a dozen times before. It was a simple ritual, one that seemed to be calming for them both, and was easy enough to accommodate when nearby a guildhall with a large enough tub. So with that, Ceres would simply sit and allow for Eden to go through the motions of taking care of her hair. |
