You got me rockin' and a-rollin', Rockin' and a-reelin….
Who: OPEN!
What: Tremors of the future’s past~
Where: Nobles District, Emillion.
When: Today - Midnight (aka it happened while everyone was sleeping, whoops!).
Rating: E! For Earthquake!
Tectonic plates moved all the time. Sliding under and over one another, causing small shakes, and minor tremors underneath the the crust of Ivalice. Yet, they were so small, that generally not even the most sensitive of person would notice them within Emillion’s walls. The city had no history of shaking, of the earth attempting to roll over itself, to rend its own sections of earth apart into gaping holes, or deep crevices. In fact, the last recorded earthquake to happen - that had no magical relation - was lost so far in the history books that even the oldest citizen alive had no real recollection of it. Perhaps one could find mention in some old, dusty tome, but… Why would anyone ever waste time upon that? That was, of course, until this night. Upon the witching hour, as a clock tolled within the Nobles District the ground would rumble across the city. Yet, this was not due to carriage or parade, no this shaking came from within, from below the surface of the street. Any poor soul caught out in the cold, dark pathway that night would witness the cobble stones buck, and rise, from the streets, being elevated up down the center as if a beast had run down through the sewers, its back too large to be encased, and forcing the earth up along the surface of the streets, making them unusable by carriage, hovercar, or chocobo in some spots where the damage had spread out from the initial focal point in the Nobles District. Closed stores closest to the point of initiation had merchandise shaken off their shelves, in homes alike trinkets, and knick-knacks were quick to hit the floor, easily followed by boroughs, and other furniture not secure, or low set enough, toppling in some parts of the city, yet not others as those far enough away from the main shift obtained only slight tremors at most. In fact, some upon the outer borders of the origination point would feel nothing at all. The pattern of the earthquake seemed to have no rhyme or reason, striking near instantly. The parts where the streets did not remain intact were limited to one or two, and seemed to not impact any areas of residential or significant merchant interaction. Earth fell away, revealing nothing more than a deep hole into the ground, where it stopped? Well, no one could be entirely certain unless they chose to go rappelling down. |
