Even with an airship, the journey had been long. It took hours just to get up to a spot within the mountains in which they could land, and the the group’s trek on foot began. From what the mage’s guild calculations, the party would breach the area in which the herb was stored by Sunday morning, and so far, they had been perfectly right. After camping out for the night in the thickly wooded path - so dense that only creatures of Hume size could really make it through, thus leaving any airship support, or dragon back-up to their own devices for the rest of this trip - the group finally came across a cave opening. Which, seemed far more foreboding than any text with it’s pitch black archs, and mist seeping up from deep inside. Splashes of color shone briefly with prismatic sprays from sun rays sporadically breaking through the unusually thick foliage above their heads. A patch of light here or there in a sea of darkness could be taken away as a message, but at the same time, a sense of foreboding still hung thickly in the air. Yet, if they were to find the herb, there was only one way to go, and that way, was in. Entering the cave offered a new set of mysteries and challenges as the terrain suddenly, and drastically, changed from the outside world they had previously become accustomed to in the forest. The new landscape which the group encountered would not be easy to navigate, and the climate shift from the cold temperatures outside, to the moderately warm inside cavern would not make things any more bearable. Regardless of the climate change, or the strange and fascinating formations throughout the cave, it would eventually lead them down into a huge open room with sunlight shining through a hole in the ceiling, illuminating the crystals which lined the walls of the space that the party now found themselves located within. The light danced across the floor, and ceiling of the area, shining through crystals and creating odd bends of light in every direction that the eye could see. It was an oddity, but at the same time, a thing of wonder. However, they were not alone as a mammoth, figure dropped from the vaulted ceiling, landing at the he opposite side of the room from the party. Unfolding itself, the almost human like looking beast with three faces and four arms stood straight, a sword drawn in each hand as it looked down upon the group as a whole. “State your goal.” The three mouths spoke at once, creating an eerie and cosmic echo that vibrated through both the air, and bounced off the walls around them. Clearly, this monstrous woman like creature who stood over fifteen feet (4.5 meters) tall was the guardian they were fated to face. |
