Any flustered reaction Merri might have made was interrupted by his hoarse coughing. Once finished, he sheepishly replied, "I... tried? Myf said... it was nothing--"
Another coughing fit erupted from his chest then, and Merri felt as though his fever had just worsened from it. Beyond Father's Luscini's shoulder, Merri thought he saw an undead skeleton and he gasped -- anything louder was more energy than he could muster -- but after letting his eyes focus he saw that it was merely one of the church mages bustling between patients. Merri let out a sigh of relief.
"Everything's hazy," he admitted quietly. Then, after a moment, he said, "You shouldn't be wasting your resources on me."
