It was good to have someone who understood you. Maria, like Peony, and vice versa, had taken work lightly the next day, but hardly missed a step on returning from battling the beast. In fact, she had already made plans to have her equipment cleaned and repaired so that her return to active duty would be seamless. Unlike Peony, however, Maria had no need to see anyone about her wounds. In healing herself, she also trained herself. Her failure to disallow two from falling during the battle demonstrated that an increase in her own capabilities may be called for.

Maria was no healer, but she was no brute either. Her role was clear - to even the scales in battle. However, she had been unable to tip them enough. This was why her seemingly casual friendship with Peony was important. She could ask these questions and expect a reasonable answer without considering it too deeply beforehand.

The tower gardens shimmered with pink blossoms and green tulip trees providing light shade. They both shared a passion for the natural beauty of the world although neither had the proper temperament to foster it in their own spaces. Peony's rooms were like her own - spartan in effects, fuller with books. Although Maria kept her collection to a rotating, single shelf. Her bible was often the only thing she needed. The rest she may like.

"Peony," she greeted with her customary nod and smile. Maria's skin was unusually pink and her freckles unusually soft. Something about the healing process drained the effect sunlight had on her. Yet another mystery of magic. With her other powers, however, it often did not get thought about too often in retrospect.

"Your invitation was...timely." was the only indication she would give to the fact that things troubled her. Also likely the greatest indication she would give to her own mental state. To put it mildly, she was not the type to talk about what troubled her outside of the most practical, secular terms.
