What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
Who: Stone and Vivi.
What: Buying secret things!
When: Early afternoon.
Where: Madam Genevieve's shop, The Snuggly Duckling.
Rating: PG.
Status: Complete!!!
The Snuggly Duckling. The dark-haired girl stood outside the building, looking it over. It seemed respectable enough, not that she’d care if it was seedy or worse. Of course, Stone had heard about this place in the Thieves Guild halls, people talking about saying they managed to get this or that the owner sells that, and the whispers about how she may or may not be involved with Duke Reinholdt. But of course, mere rumors are mere rumors, and it isn’t like Stone figured she could afford anything here on her own anyway.
Now, however, she had some money on her from selling the expensive coins she had earned on her trip with Altair, Wilcar, Arielle, and the EKP woman—though somehow Stone figured it might not be enough—and besides, Arielle had even instructed her to do so on the network. Why not take her advice, and leave the people she already owed thanks alone? Better to owe a lot of people a bunch of little things than to owe a few people a lot of big things.
Stepping into the store, a small bell rang as she approached the counter. An upstanding blonde woman was manning the front, and Stone swallowed and straightened her back as she tried to at least put on a neutral, serious face as she spoke to the clerk.
“Hello. You must be Madam. A pleasure to meet you. Are you well? I’ve heard about your store, and I’ve come to peruse you wares.”
Except ‘pleasure’ sounded more like ‘PLEEZ-yur,’ and ‘peruse’ was said like ‘PAY-rooz.’ Stone had no idea about this, of course, and nodded toward the shop keep, who in her mind would only ever be ‘Madam’ to go along with Arielle’s advice.
