The search for magical Moose in the library only turned up children's books, but in truth Merrion expected little else nor was he particularly disappointed in the lack of credibility to provide the drunkard Aspel had spoken of. It had given him enough of a distraction from one of his best friends moving away from Emillion altogether -- indefinitely, Owena said -- and from his inability to focus on any new spells or basic sword techniques, and he could still appreciate the tall tales as though he was seven years old himself.
Finally, Merrion decided he had enough of moping, for surely he couldn't hide it from his friends forever, and after leaving the sweets from the festival at Quen's door he made his way out to the bazaar to see if some fresh air couldn't cheer him up.
Either somehow more chocobos were running about -- though Merrion didn't see them aside from a pair of peacekeepers roaming the streets, but that was normal and they had seemed far enough away -- or there was some new disease going around, he couldn't tell, but he didn't make it very far into the Bazaar District before his eyes became itchy and watery. Was it pinkeye? Oh Faram, what if it was pinkeye? And he was looking forward to spending some time out in the sun and maybe finding some friends to share a drink with. Instead, now he was going to have to get to the nearest clinic and then probably have to spend time in quarantine. This was the absolute worst timing!
