[Shieldwyrm Hall | 8:30am] It'd been too long since Siana had a day off that wasn't recovering from injuries, and she woke up feeling guilty for allowing herself her vacation. The murders still were not solved; while they had caught the culprit of the three from two weeks ago, there was evidence to suggest that he did not work alone. There were others out there, and if it was one or many was difficult to discern. All Siana knew was that the troubles that plagued the city were not over, and for her to take a break seemed unfair to the citizens of Emillion. That was why when she woke, she went straight for the guildhall. She did not see Monaco in the office, and after sitting behind her desk for a few minutes she found difficulty in concentrating. With a sigh, she finally admitted that maybe a day off was exactly what she needed to clear her head, and she hoped that no one suffered for it. While she was here, however, she thought that she might take a trip to the training halls to practice her kata for a time. She'd promised to meet her sister for lunch, and there were still hours before she had to make the appointment. So with that, Siana made her way towards the training halls, happy that it was early enough that it hadn't filled up quite yet. She pulled out her katana and began. [Bazaar District | 12:00pm] Lunch had not been what Siana expected. She had expected her sister and perhaps her nephew as well -- not her brother-in-law. After a tense meal, she bid her family goodbye and promised to visit again soon, though the promise was more aimed at her sister and nephew than the owner of the Mostyn Vineyards. He offered her a bottle of wine before they parted ways. A peace offering, she knew, and she accepted it for appearances sake only. What was she going to do with this? She stuffed the bottle into her bag and made her way through the bustling Bazaar to her next destination. She hadn't expected to make the trip today, but sometimes plans changed and it'd been a while. The journey was not as quick as she thought, however; lunch crowds were difficult to push through and she didn't wear the armor to do so effectively. Ah, well. She had time, and she knew patience was a skill she still needed to improve upon. [Grande Cathedral | 1:30pm] She had spent a little longer in confession than she had intended. It had been too long since she had been, and she had much to confess. Once the priest blessed her and gave her her penance, she thanked him and stepped into the bright sunlight. It was getting to be the warmest time of day now, but it was not as unbearable as it used to be. Autumn was coming, and Siana longed for it. Making her way down the steps, she passed by several who sought to confess their sins or find peace in whatever capacity they could, as well as priests and others who served the church. She nodded to those who made eye contact with her. It was enough to be reminded why she chose not to attend Sunday services; none but Faram could judge her, after all, and she would rather see these good people able to attend to their worship in peace for as long as she could help it. It made her feel guilty once again for even taking the day off, but half the day was already gone and there was little she could do. The priest, after all, had effectively assuaged the guilt. [Lux & Livre | 2:30pm] There was a tidy orderliness to the bookshelves at the Lux & Livre that Siana really appreciated. It was beyond the ease of finding the titles she sought; the comfort was one she had difficulty finding elsewhere. For as many books as the shop held, it never felt cluttered and it was always inviting, and she loved to spend her time scouring the shelves for something new to read. She had a process to shopping for books, as well: there was always a genre she bought titles from, and there was always the "cover" book. She read both, of course, always, but it was good to have that title in hand. This time, she touched her fingers delicately against the spines of those in the classical literature section, pondering at a Layne Rosten novel. First Impressions. She'd always meant to read it but never thought to pick it up. Maybe now was her chance. [Commoners District - Park| 4:00pm] With her new acquisition, Siana decided to enjoy the cooling weather on a park bench. Not many were empty this time of day and at this time of year, but she found an open spot between a stranger and an elderly woman feeding pigeons. "May I sit here?" she asked, and the two nudged aside to let her. "Thank you." She pulled out First Impressions and started reading, happy to enjoy a book somewhere that was not her couch. There would be time in the winter for that. |
