Waiting for Father Luscini to finish the scroll the past two weeks had been met with anticipated excitement, and when the priest messaged Merri on the network to say that it was completed, he had quickly found a casting room to reserve. A part of Merri felt a little guilty; he should have been able to complete the scroll himself, and if it hadn't been for work and upcoming scholar exams, he might have done so. Fortunately, the priest was a nice, kind man who had offered, and Merri always welcomed help especially when it came to white magic.
A good red mage was supposed to be well learned in both black and white, and Merri had spent most of his training learning black, having always struggled with white and no mage in that field having been too willing to help him. They were often busy and annoyed with him to do so, after all. But after the battles the past few months, Merri learned that defensive spells were just as if not more important to help his friends than offensive, and it was time to fill in the gaps.
Merri alerted the front desk to expect Father Luscini and asked them to instruct the priest to go to the casting room he'd be in. There, Merri waited with a handful of ethers and potions while he ran through the white magic spells he already knew as a warm-up.
