WHO: Daphne Greengrass & Theodore Nott & Astoria Greengrass.
WHAT: Theodore drops by the Greengrass Estate unannounced.
WHERE: The Greengrass Library.
WHEN: Sunday evening.
RATING: Moderate?
The music was intoxicating as it overwhelmed Daphne's senses. Slow, melodious music enveloped the Greengrass Estate's library as the source of the music was tucked into the far corner next to a piano. The ivory keys of the piano were charmed to play in tune with the young woman. Pale hazel eyes were closed as her mind concentrated on the music coming from her fingers as she delicately pulled the bow over the strings of her violin. It was evident much care and effort went into her playing, with it being her only outlet from the world, Daphne made sure each note was played with care and consideration.
Daphne was not the type to wear her heart and her feelings on her sleeve, so when she learned her emotions could be played out through her violin, she knew she had to keep it to herself. She needed to keep those feelings and emotions to herself and release it only around herself. It's what helped her stay so cold and distant to those around her, and helped her keep the world at an arms length away. She knew at times her family listened through the keyholes in attempts to hear the soft music echoing through the library. Daphne knew from behind closed doors she was safe from them actually hearing and witnessing. If they wished to press their ears against the door, that was their choice, but she wasn't going to allow them into the room while she played. It made everything easier, and after years of this practice, her parents gave up arguing with her about it, and submitted to her wishes to play alone.
Of course, she wasn't alone completely. Within the library she taught herself to charm the piano to play with her playing. It helped when songs needed accompaniment.
Her ears were only half tuned to the door, she didn't worry too much about anyone walking in on her. She knew she would hear them before they actually made it down to the opposite side of the library. It was actually why Daphne picked this place to play, it was one of the larger rooms in the house, and sound carried in that room. It was also the only room in the house - excluding her bedroom - that she felt most comfortable in. The library was a familiar room to her, a room that she begged to be allowed into as a child. A room that became "hers" as a child. If she was no where to be found, she was likely in the library.
