Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Wes & Scorpius (OPEN to professors!)
What: Doing a whole lotta nothin'
Where: Out on the grounds
When: Friday afternoon
Rating: Warning: Contents could be explosive.
Author's Note: I can be a complete flake, so expect slow-ass replies sometimes.

Wes was smoking, but it was just a cigarette. He actually wasn't in the mood to get high for once. Not to mention that it was actually impossible to get near the greenhouses, what with all the preparation for the Herbology exam coming up.
Exams, exams, exams. It was all anyone was talking about outside of the murders, and quite frankly Wes Longbottom was bored of it!
He sighed and laid back into the long grass, closing his eyes to enjoy the unseasonably warm Spring they were having, and how nice and quiet it was on the grounds, despite being a Friday afternoon. It wouldn't have been to hard for him to fall asleep where he was laying....

"I don't care who started it," the professor advanced with a dangerous sneer in his face. "All I see is two gape jawed idiots who find their jollies hurling boyish spells at each other!" As he stood over them, he gave both boys a well aimed clock on the back of their heads.

"Longbottom. Malfoy. Follow me. Now." He spat at them before turning. Rakow wasn't interested in apologies or explainations.

Wes winced as his was hit, and rubbed the back of his head gently, his expression not doing much to cover the obvious cogs turning in his head, searching for a way to wriggle out of being punished. He'd done it a thousand times before, but most of those times he hadn't been caught in the act.
Reluctantly, knowing the alternative would've been a lot worse, Wes followed Rakow, throwing a dirty look at Scorpius as he did so. His day had been looking quite up until he'd showed his face.

Rubbing his head at the blow Scorpius sneer back when Wes caught his eye, but fell into step behind the professor. What bad luck, he couldn't help thinking to himself, that Rakow hadn't come just a minute later then he did-- Scorpius could have really put Longbottom in his place once and for all.

Professor Rakow led the two boys back into the East Tower, where his office lay. However, instead of walking up the stairs to the third floor where he usually resided when he wasn't teaching classes, he walked downstairs, into the basement of the Tower. As the descended the steps, they passed floor after floor until natural sunlight pierced the steps only in bare, weak shafts. Eventually, torches appeared and illuminated their path.

"Move quickly and with confidence," he warned. "If you even make a single misstep on these stairs, you will no doubt descend into a darkness where not even your mothers would dare to call out your shameful names."

At the very bottom of the steps, they reached a set of large, old wooden doors. With a tap of his wand, the doors creaked open, revealing a leaky dungeon illuminated by a single green torch, filled top to bottom with grimy flasks of all shapes and sizes.

Rakow turned to the two teenagers behind him. "Boys. Wands." He said, his face looking rather severe in the green light.

Wes silently followed, trying to avoid falling into step with Scorpius. He was secretly already plotting his revenge for Scoripus getting him another detention under his belt. It'd be something sticky, he decided. He was barely looking where he was going until Rakow warned them. It was then that he realised they were in a part of the school he'd never been in before. He didn't make a point of going to the dungeons at the best of times.
"What's this?" He asked as he pulled his wand out of his pocket, his tone a little more rebellous than he intended, but hell, it was a nice day and he was apparently going to be locked in a dungeon or something! Well, he'd complain to his dad later on, that was for sure!
"Professor we were just practising-" He tried.

Scorpius did not even try to hind his revulsion as the descended into this dank part of the castle. what the fuck? The professor couldn't possibly expect them to stay down here for any length of time. Sure, as a Slytherin Scorpius spent more than enough time in the school dungeons, but this was hardly the same thing at all!

Scorpius handed over his wand, reluctantly but not seeing any other option at the moment. "Professor," He began, completely ignoring Wes' attempt, "Longbottom accused me of killing Lysander, not just finding him...I haven't gotten over it, and I reacted a little violently, but.."

Since discovering the two in the heat of a duel earlier, Professor Rakow's patience had hardly grown. He cut them short of their explanations. There was no excuse that would bring upon either of them his mercy.

"Tut! Not another word out of you two! I don't care if he attempted to kill your mother!" He said as he grabbed their wands, turning around to walk past the threshold. "Do you know where we are?" He didn't wait for their answers. "This is a volatile potions cabinet. Some of these vials, they are centuries old, brewed once in a millennia and never more."

The Professor walked up to a creaky looking green shelf, filled top to bottom with similar looking vials. "These are old transfiguratory potions. I want you to take all of these vials and put them into that box," he pointed to a nearby box with a few vials in them; clearly a job he tried to start. "When you are finished, I want you to bring them back into my office. The stairs will know when you've finished the job correctly and bring you up without dropping the box."

"Don't you dare try to steal one of these vials because I have each and every one of them cataloged in my mind. And I would avoid breaking them too," The Professor plucked one of the vials from the very top and dipped the boys' wands into the it. In a puff of grey smoke, the two wands turned into tiny black rats. He stuffed them into his pocket. He took an hourglass out in its place.

"I'll keep these for now. You have until the hourglass is through to finish this job. If not, I'm shutting the doors and you get to spend the rest of the night on these moldy floors. Understood?"
