Who: Raven & OPEN
What: Raven doesn't like being alone
Where: Out on the main steps of Hogwarts
When: Wednesday evening, still light outside
Rating: --

Raven H Peale had lived much of her life with the belief that she hated nothing. Well, now she was beginning to rethink that stance, as she sat alone of the front steps of Hogwarts, watching the light of the sun slowly fade into shades of gray.

She hated being by herself.

What was the point? Life was so short- and with a murder running around there was no telling exactly how short it would be. Why would anyone waste time by themselves? Raven had thought she needed fresh air, but now she was getting anxious for the companionable bustle of the Hufflepuff common-room, where there was always someone around to keep company with. This isolated landscape was not what she needed, nor what she wanted.

"Solitude is such a waste." She sighed to herself, getting ready to rise and return to her housemates.

"Luck?" Art murmured to herself, it really seemed now obvious that Wes and her never really had a thing, that whatever she felt for the boy was always platonic love, if anything. Now the idea of him and Claire haunted her constantly.

She snapped back to reality, with the sincere apologies of Raven, she was a sweet girl after all. "Don't worry love" She meant it actually she hadn't showed her poems to anyone but her sister Rowan, and she was all the way to Scotland.

"Really thou think so?"

"I do think so." She insisted with a bob of her dark head as she handed the stack of parchment back to Art. "I've always been a little jealous of people who write well," Raven admitted with a small laugh.

"Have you always written poetry, or did you have to work really hard to figure it out?" She asked, honestly curious about the entire concept of 'artistic-ability' and where it came from. Raven herself painted sometimes, but that was just copying nature...not really creating anything new the way literature did.

Art took the parchment with a jolly grin, not everyday you get good critics, and she was starting to actually like Raven. "Why, thank you!" She almost exclaimed, she was way better at reciting, writing it was just part of the deal.

"Oh well its kind of natural you know?" It really was, you just felt the words and they crawled into your mind. She was feeling with her spirits up for once in the whole week and as she actually liked Raven she bragged a bit of her abilities.

"Do not dare trust thy reason
When the rhyme on his mouth, threats to claim thy mind
When his mere grin, might erase all reason
But the reasons of the hearts"

She recited softly, spelling clearly and giving the exact tone and clash of the voice, turning it mellow with every word, and staring into the girl's eyes. Oh yes Art was a tease.

A wide grin spread over Raven's face, and she clapped her little hands together once with enthusiasm. Her more nosy tendencies were eager to ask if the work was about anyone in particular, but Raven was fairly well practiced at reigning in that side of her nature.

Raven's cheeks were tinted faint pink with pleasure, both at the poetry and at the prospect of having made a new friend today- she had never really had occasion to speak to Art before, and was thrilled that she was now getting her chance.

"And you have a lovely speaking voice!" She exclaimed, laughing a bit ruefully over the fact that some people seemed to get all the talent.

Art couldn’t help but adoring the little gesture, so she deserved claps? That was enough to consider Raven a friend, and a good one. The poem was one of her own favorites, though perhaps not the best, and it did versed on Wes, how pathetic she felt now, after dedicating love sonnets to a boy that was just a friend if anything.

She never really got to talk to Raven before, and somehow had just assumed that all the cheery, bubbly deal was a bit fake, but she didn’t really see any phony act, it all seemed quite sincere, and that had just gained Art’s respect.

“Well, thank thee!” She made an exaggerated reverence with a smile, definitely ecstatic, her books and mess already forgotten. “So what were thou doing here, all by thyself? Before my graceful interruption?”

Raven rolled her blue eyes just a bit at Art's mention of "grace" but she had a way of somehow making it a pleasent gesture.

"Being bored to tears!" She replied, although maybe 'bored' wasn't exactly the right word. It wasn't that Raven needed excitement really, just company. "I don't know why I came out here- I really don't see the appeal in concept of 'alone time' Being alone is a waste."

“Aw poor thing!” Exclaimed Art thinking that she could as well use some company, after all, the books could only distract her for so long, and Raven seemed exactly what she needed right now, a cheery, cute girl to keep her mind apart from both boy trouble and the terrible death shadow over the school “I myself enjoy solitude for a while, but quite frankly I’m getting bored right now”

“Say we go on a stroll?” She could put her books away with some simple spells to place them on her bed, far, far away from their current location and it was after all a beautiful day.

"That sounds nice," Raven agreed. If they walked then she could have the best of both worlds: the fresh air she had wanted and company. Raven felt profoundly content suddenly. "We've got a bit of time before we have to be inside for the night."

Raven smoothed out her skirt absently, glancing down to make sure that her shoes were buckled (they often went) and then looked back up at Art with a smile. "Gardens, or lake do you think?" She asked, gesturing out with one hand.

“Oh don’t mind the curfew, please” Art had never paid attention to it, even with Dalia’s, and then Albus and Lye, despite all the Hogwarts personnel efforts, she had one thing clear, these attacks, these deaths, they were caused by someone from inside a student, and she was most certain that being in broad daylight was just as dangerous.

“Lake I reckon, there is this lovely spot by it” She added as she resumed to cast the pertinent spells and put her books away, she could only hope they’d find their way, they had done it when she’d cast “accio” hours ago.

“Shall we?” Art reached her hand out with a grin, company was something to be celebrated.
