Do I have to have read all of the books to be able to participate? Not at all! Every effort has been made to involve absolute minimal canon plots, for three primary reasons. One, we have no idea how the remaining canon plot will unfold, owing to the fact that the series is not yet complete. Two, Mr Martin has voiced strong opinions against fanfictions and therefore we would like to avoid implicating canon characters/plots wherever possible. Three, we do not necessarily wish to restrict our players to those fully entrenched in the fandom. That said, everyone is welcome, even if you have not read any of the books in the series. However, please do note that there will be spoilers. Also, we highly encourage that you familiarise yourself with the world and garner at least a loose understanding of the history by consulting the Wikipedia entry. January, 2006. A virus spread quickly through the small town of Darston, Texas. It affected the body's immune and nervous system, killing in a matter of days. No one knew what it was or how it got there but they needed help and they needed it now. The Government quickly took part and assisted the town in any way they could, and also made sure the disease didn't spread to the nearby towns by placing a quarantine that lasted two years. Military forces took over the town and no one walked in or out without their permission. In those two years, many rumors floaed around the town. Some said that virus was a military weapon that the US Government tested on the town; others said that it was the beginning of the plague of the XXI Century; and other said it was simply the way nature worked. But whatever it was, it killed more than half of the population. • • • • Today, it's been two months since the quarantine is over and people are slowly taking up their lives again. Families can go visit their relatives, the children can hope again that this year their parents will take them to Disneyland and the newlyweds can finally have their honeymoon in Hawaii. Everything's back to normal... or is it? A group of people that survived the virus start feeling strange and weird things happen around them. [11 Mar 2008|12:11pm] I hope this is the right place to post this but... Here goes! I'm searching for a home for my boy, Otto 'Omen' Krusp. I consider him either a mutant or a 'deformed' shape shifter, meaning that he can only assume he natural form which appears rather demonic and in-human or a false human skin. I'm also hoping that the comm is rather slash friendly, as I plan to play Otto as a young gay boy looking for a relationship. Otto's natural form is a sort of vibrant sod color, a deep dirt red given it's hue thanks to the multiple fine hairs present upon his body, thickening to darker shades at his navel while being thin and soft to non present along his lips. Beneath the fur is ivory white skin, sometimes seen in 'patches' when Otto begins his yearly shedding of thick fur for the summer season. His head bares a small pair to twin horns in pale white color with some slight, natural discoloration at the base- these horns never exceed five inches in height but are sometimes unseen due to Otto's horrible habit of filing or breaking them off in an effort to appear more human. His hair is a fade ivory shade, contrasting to his bright blue eyes. He appears to walk awkwardly in his human form, thanks to his digi-grade legs and the long, whip like spaded tail which helps to balance out his lean body. Unlike most humans, his feet and hands have been warped since birth, forming large, fleshy claws with thin white nails- his feet having a single dew claw on each foot that aids for griping various objects and surfaces. With that little description thrown out, I'd love a suggestion of community's that would accept him! :D Thank you! post comment

Oh, and some vampires, witches, and shapeshifters. As humans we have always been concerned with 'the other', what else is 'out there'. Well, aliens don't exist, but some of the creatures of myths and legends do. The majority of humans live completely unaware of the supernatural creatures living amongst them. The only difference between humans and these creatures? A slight difference in genetics which means that vampires need to drink blood to survive, witches can perform magic and shapeshifters can shapeshift into different animals. Of course not everyone sees these creatures as 'just different genetics'. The few humans that do know that they exist consider them to be evil and dangerous, and have banded together to form groups of hunters, killing any they find. It isn't much of a suprise then to find that vampires, witches and shapeshifters keep themselves to themselves, pretending to be human. For decades the students and employees of the University of Reading have been doing just that. Many families have convinced their children to go to their old University because Reading has been 'safe' for so long. Unfortunatly all good things come to an end, and it seems that a group of hunters has arrived in Reading over the summer. But, what if those always interlocking circles were bent and broken apart leaving the Valley of the Light forever separated from the Land of the Dead never to continue on the chain reactions of life, death and reincarnation. However this does leave the question: Where does one go when they die if these linked circles are torn apart? A question that has a solution only known to those who have passed on to see their new land. Enter the Netherworld. A sub-world once connected to the state of the living, the Netherworld is an area with many realms all connected to each other by strange portals. Although the Netherworld in itself is mostly a neutral land, there are certain realms that seem to be more of a threat than the others. It is true that to be in this world one must be dead and therefore shouldn't have the need for fear of any things that could be even remotely ominous - but with death comes fear and with fear comes pain. Dead one might be, food you may not need but even in the Netherworld blood and pain are as real as the living. There are four different realms joined together in the Netherworld, each one with their own creatures native to its grounds - it is up to those in the realms to decided for themselves which creatures are friend and which are foe. Judge not by their looks entirely for such things can be deceiving. Shelter can be found if you look hard enough in areas such as caves, and holes. They can even be built if one is creative enough to try. Food and drink are not necessities in the Netherworld as there is no hunger to be felt. There is only one large difference between the living and the dead carried into the Netherworld - the dead have no hearts. The similarities are as simple as if one is cut they will bleed and feel pain. Cold and warm tempuratures have effects on the dead although it is minor. Injuries sustained in death are carried over into the Netherworld as permanent scars. There is but one rule to the land that allows you to pass through realms so freely: the dead cannot visit the land of the living under any circumstances. The living may, however, visit the dead.
