"I suppose... if they start planning anything for you, I'll distract them. And you can do the same for me. How does that sound?" He'd long since decided that any prospective marriage for him would be for the benefit of Narnia and any romance that developed would simply be a bonus. And now that they were here, with Narnia no longer a factor? Gosh. He could like someone just for who they were, rather than because of trade benefits or establishing a peaceful alliance with, say, Archenland. A novel concept indeed.
"Ow," he said as his arm was tugged, more reflex than anything like actual pain, and he laughed a little. "I'll have you know I would never play any pranks. Unless Pete's involved, obviously."
As Lu opened the library doors, he looked around at the building and felt himself relax. The library back home was where he could just be Ed, lost in history and surrounded by books and scrolls, rather than King Edmund, and it seemed that calmness extended to all libraries. At least, that was what he'd found so far. "World history from 1940 onwards," he replied. "I want to see what we've missed, in detail. I know I can use the Online, but I'd much rather read it in books."
