Ben/ Mention of Clara (tw: graphic violence, blood splatter)
Ben had not been disappeared from the dance hall as others had, but he had seen it happen before his very eyes. It had stunned him, seeing what he could only describe as disappearing. Literally one minute, he had seen the green haired boy goofing off with his date and then within a blink of an eye, he was gone. It was surreal how quickly people were gone. As if someone had snapped them out of the existence. It left the room in a state of madness, wondering where they had all gone and it got even worse when people had started noticing the lack of shadows. Some people were scrambling. Others, he noticed seemed to have gathered to try and figure out ways to resolve the situation that they all found themselves in.
Ben navigated through the room, hoping to spot Beverly or Eddie, but every time that he circulated the dance hall, it felt like the whole space was revolving with him. As if he couldn't find the people that he was trying to find, almost as if the room itself was mocking him and making it near damn impossible for him to locate his friends. Even more when he tried to make haste to leave the building, for the doors seemed to throw him from one side of the room to the opposite side as if it were nothing.
"Fuck." He muttered. And now as he attempted to make another pass at trying to locate Bev and Eddie. Each time was futile. One disappointment after another, and then he heard a very low guttural, growling. Or was it coughing? He wasn't sure but it definitely didn't sound like anything human. Pennywise? His hand instinctively went to the wallet the he had in his breast pocket, inside the yearbook page that had/hadn't been thrown into the receptacle that was supposed to have contained It. Richie said that they had accomplished it. That It was taken care of. And there wasn't any sign of It's trademark red balloon anywhere.
As much as Ben was smart, he could also be really, really stupid at times too. It was that idiotic white boy mentality that would always do him in. He followed the noise, like the idiot that he was. The further he followed the noise, the closer it came. Whatever it was, was moving. Moving faster than he would've thought. And then the creature stepped into Ben's view and his heart fell. What he could only guess, the thing seemed to stand nearly 10 feet tall, almost humanoid in shape but very clearly more grotesque in nature. Long thread like tendrils fell from its hands, if they could be called that. And just off of his periphery he spotted Clara. Short, petite Clara. The creature also saw her too. And as the beast could clearly tell, she was much closer to it than he was.
"Shittttt." Ben cursed. In the span of moments, the creature started careening toward her. There was no hesitation as Ben decided to make a beeline for her. Having been on track, and still managing to keep up with running, Ben had managed to get to her before the creature could but only by moments. He stood staring at the disfigured shape, and then those tendrils that he had spotted had slashed through the air, cutting both fabric and skin, a spray of blood was instantaneous as his stomach was shredded, strips of skin were caked in blood as it's mawl drew closer to him, wanting to tear him apart. Literally. He wasn't as queasy as he thought he'd be. He had fought against Pennywise before and had had his stomach carved at. Now marking three times. He didn't have time to catch Clara's reaction to him taking the attack that was directed at her, but he figured that he should rather be the goner than her.
