Finer Things Club meets every Thursday at 8pm at MIST. There's a meeting tonight.  For those of you that don't know, finer things club is a free club for trying new things and new foods.  We talk about one new thing each week and sample one new food.  Here are some questions I've been asked before and the answers.

Why?
To learn about things that may be new to you and to try new foods. Because people arrive here from different times, places and circumstances.   There are people haven't had the opportunity or the freedom to experience the things we have here before.

When?
Thursdays at 8pm.

Where?
MIST.

Who can come?
Anyone!!!! If you don't know anything or much about the topic of the week, then this is your chance to learn about it so you can enjoy it. If you know about the topic, then you can come and share what you know.   Or you can come just to try the food and be around people.

Is it like being lectured?
No, I usually start things off by explaining the topic of the week and then we all chat and eat. It's like hanging out.

Will there be enough food for a meal?
Not usually.  I bring enough food for everyone to sample the food of the week.  Think of it as a snack or a dessert.

Is it fancy?
No.  The name Finer Things comes from a TV show.  It's just a name.  It's casual.  You don't need to dress up or do anything else beside come.

What if I  want to do more?
Cool!  You can suggest a topic or a food.   You can make suggestions of what you'd like to know about.  Or what you think others might like to know about. If you know a lot about a topic, you can start off the meeting one week.   If you like to cook or bake (or buy food and share it), you can bring a food to try.   Please tell me in advance if you want to start off a meeting or bring food or both. Just so I know I don't have to think up a topic or bring a food.

What will this night's Finer Things Club be about?  What about the next meetings?
Tonight's meeting will be about Cherry Blossom trees and where you can see them in Boston. The food will be sakura manju and hanami dango.
Next week, the 17th will be about Easter.  The meeting will be focused on what to expect to see around Dunwich and Boston/what you may have already seen such as candy in stores, treats being hidden for children etc.  If there's time, we might decorate eggs. That's an Easter tradition.
The week after that, the 24th will be about recipes using leftover candies and chocolates, with samples as the food. Easter candy will be on sale by then.

[Lux]
Let's go and see the cherry blossom trees this weekend. They're really pretty.!

I've only heard of them. We didn't have them in Minnesota, at least not in the part I'm from. I got really excited when I read they can be seen in bloom in Boston now. That's what gave me the idea to talk about them tonight.

I'm glad. You can talk about the ones you saw where you're from. They must have been beautiful.

Oh. You'll have to go to see them here.

Sakura blooming means that spring is really here. It can still sometimes snow back home though, much like here. I'm from Tokyo.

I'd be glad to chat about the ones back home.

Is it? You don't know much about me yet. It's worth asking. I'm trying to be more positive.

Eiji. Well, if he comes here, I'll be sure to say hello.

I hope he doesn't. But he'd probably like it if you did.

No, and not very popular at all. People more tend to know me than I do them. Somehow. But it's worth asking because maybe.

I can be your friend here. If you want. I'm not very good at it but I try.

I plan to. It's helping me decide what to talk about tonight. Things like how to get to the places in Boston that have the trees, what else is nearby, those kinds of details.

It can snow in April back in Minnesota too. You know, winter, spring of deception, second winter, mud season, real spring, all of that.

Good. I'm sure people will be interested. They're such pretty trees.

Yes! And if we want to, we can take a gondola ride on the nearby river too. Unless that's trying too hard too much for one day? We can figure it out when we're there.

Let's just see where the day takes us! What's a gondola? Like a boat?

Yes, you got it, it's a type of boat. There are other boat rides too.

If gondolas are closed, or are two slow, there are speed boat rides and whale watching

Too much, too much, too desperate.

Seeing where the day takes us is perfect. :)
