BINGO PROMPT: Flowers of Romance
The cool night air was a welcome change from the oppressive heat of the ballroom at Hearts Castle. Or perhaps it was just that he was accustomed to being outside, back in Chess. This was not Chess, however, something to which he was all too quickly becoming aware. Still, this quiet moment out in the castle gardens had been earned by his earlier performance, and Jest held a silver flute to his lips, filling the air with a gentle, lilting music. Every Valentine's Day since they'd married, Thomas had bought Calliope a metal rose. He didn't particularly buy in to the over-hyped commercialism of the holiday, but he didn't mind celebrating their love, all the same. He just wouldn't do it with a plant that would die a week after it was gifted. So, instead, eternal flowers- three of which sat in a vase in her kitchen. (It was her kitchen, after all- Thomas had no designs to think otherwise.) Before he left for school that morning, however, he set a fourth one down just beside that vase, so she'd be sure to see it when she came downstairs. Though he had ordered it weeks ago, this one was just like those he'd dreamt of the night before- a perfectly formed white rose. |
