Police barracade near ShinRa HQ; late
Red felt like she had been subjected to a Slow spell as events went down like dominoes around here. Her wind magic successfully aided Sabin in cutting another vein to keep it from pumping energy into that terrible mechanical heart, but no sooner had those blades done their job when the inevitable blast went off. Its beam was straight and precise -- a cat's laser toy kicked up by roughly 1000% percent -- that cauterized Valigaramanda's thick hide just as quickly as it was able to burn through. In fact, she didn't realize the newly departed ShinRa chopper had foolishly taken an escape route directly behind the attacking serpent until she was starting at it through a hole in Valigarmanda's head. The body erupted into flames just seconds prior to dropping rock-like out of the sky.
In an awful admission of truth, she didn't give two shits about ShinRas falling air craft. She couldn't even be asked to care about the GF's dissolving body no matter how rare or scientifically significant everything happening right beside her was. With a white knuckled grip Red leaned as far over the building's edge as she could without toppling over head first, eyes searching desperately for signs of Cloud --
There! There was a hole about ten, maybe fifteen floors down. He'd gotten insanely lucky, all things considered, but could still be suffering a concussion for all she knew. His ribs could be cracked from Valigarmanda thrashing him about or he could be impaled on some broken glass. Hyne forbid he survive unscathed because in that case she would feel sorely tempted to give him a resounding smack for being too brash even by her dumb standards. Wishing there was more time for thanking Sabin and hoping her eyes conveyed a 'good job' for their group effort, all she managed was, "I'm going down to look for him!" And with that she pushed her way through a crowd of people, former employees of ShinRa's President and film crew alike, as they swarmed in to closely inspect the invention which could have ended all their lives. The shiny crystal presently resting where Valigarmanda's lolling head dropped against the roof would go mistaken for a particularly large chunk of debris and ignored.
Elena was not partial to being silent or completely inactive. That being said, she was too shell shocked in the moment to do much of anything aside from stand at the back of the crowd. Her entire life and the lives of countless others -- whether they had liked ShinRa or not -- had just been changed forever. She felt free. She felt unsure. She felt ... sick to her stomach. Granting herself only a passing touch to Sabin's arm once his friends were no longer around to see, she urged him along with the jut of her chin. "Go on. Corralling people downstairs will be the last thing I do before clocking out, I guess."
