WHO: Balamb SeeD volunteers WHAT: A life-saving task in riots-infested waters WHERE: Deling City WHEN: January 23, morning (Cloudy / 6°C / 42.8°F) WARNING: TBA
The prevalent gray skies did little to improve the mood of the sleepless DCPD, but the promise of rain might at least discourage rioters to take to the streets and allow them to patrol more peacefully and deliver some much needed supplies to and from the city. Maybe if they were lucky, they would be allowed to go home.
Paper cups of hot chocolates and coffee were passed through the overstretched police force as they awaited their new orders of the day, following a brief congratulatory speech by Sgt Stillwater for quashing an attempt to rob a convenience store last night. But more officers needed to be dispatched in the now-closed shopping arcade to prevent looting. If only safeguarding property was simple, the demonstrators have played on the element of surprise and shown no fear against batons and teargases and they were charging in droves. Every police and soldier were seen as ShinRa defenders, at a loss of marching to the heavily secured ShinRa building they had taken to the areas that would deliver the most damage, the civilian areas.
Murmurs spread, what of the SeeD volunteers? Couldn't they be told to help stand guard? They asked to help they should be dispatched too.
Sgt. Stillwater had other ideas though, aside from the fact that there were instructions not to directly involve SeeDs and by extension Garden in clashes.
"There's a truck of medical equipment that is long needed in Deling General, already delayed for two days." Sgt. Stillwater briefed in puffs of breath at the SeeDs who assembled that morning. "We badly need to spread security detail in the city and you'll have to go without an escort. Would your party be sufficient in ensuring the truck gets to the hospital safely?"
