Re: Lambs of God - Carla/Ignatius
I wouldn't really recommend it unfortunately. It's an okay book, but it's best claim to specialness is being the basis for a much superior story told in a different medium (similar to Stephen King's short story Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption). The book is completely different. Way fewer characters (we only meet the nuns, Iggy, the Bishop, & Mr Colquin and we only hear about Frankie secondhand) and their personalities are completely different and the plot diverges significantly around the helicopter scene so basically it's the story of 3 extremely dumb religious fundamentalists who are not friends and don't even like each other imprisoning a perfectly reasonable and nice priest who's trying to be kind and polite to them and breaking his spirit down until he agrees to lie to his fatherly and reasonable boss for them and then he lives with a combination of PTSD and Stockholm Syndrome for the rest of his celibate priestly life. It's basically Misery if Annie Wilkes was 3 nuns with serious hygiene issues. Only 2 good points about the book specifically: 1- even though the plot and characters were significantly changed, the best dialogue in the show was lifted verbatim from the book 2- lots and lots of knitting talk and about different stitches and cables and knitting history, etc.
