TOG - Quynh & Booker
“Alright,” Quynh says, eyeing him contemplatively, “Tell me something about Andromache I don’t know. Not something she did while I was… gone, something about her.”
Booker takes a sip of wine, savours it. How has Andy changed, Quynh is asking, who is she now? He doesn’t want to tell her Andy has become someone defined by absence, your absence.
Instead, he asks, “Was she superstitious when… back then?”
Quynh’s eyes flash with recognition but she doesn’t reply.
“So she was,” Booker concludes.
“No, I was.”
Of course.
He drinks again, a glug that burns his throat. She’s proved his point.
