Holmes/Watson
Mrs Hudson greeted Watson by fussing about how Holmes remained absent. He listened patiently.
Less than an hour later his study was interrupted by Mrs Hudson who arrived with a presumptuous man hot on her heels. He had an urgent message for Mr Holmes and would deliver it only to him.
Watson reassured and dismissed his landlady then sat the man – clearly Holmes in disguise – at the dining table. He allowed the to story unfold, for the moment when he would have to say, “Well I would be happy to settle Mr Holmes’ account with you but have no money.”
