Little Women - Jo, Laurie, Amy, Friedrich.
Jo spun around Aunt March’s old receiving room, first in Friedrich’s arms, then Laurie’s, Amy’s, Marmee’s and Meg’s, then round again. Dizzily, she remembered the night she met Laurie, how she’d flattened herself against the wall, determinedly hiding the burn in her dress.
Laughing, she dragged Laurie outside, Friedrich too, dancing all together, feet pounding up and down the porch until, exhausted, she collapsed against the wall.
Amy joined her as Laurie dragged Friedrich into his arms and they cantered round the house, Friedrich twirling Laurie under his arm.
“I’d like to paint them,” Amy sighed, “if they’d stay still.”
