Reid places his stethoscope on Luke’s chest and orders, “Breathe.”
Luke rolls his eyes. “I’m fine,” he says crossly.
“Shut up and breathe,” Reid snaps.
Luke will be fine. He will. Reid’s the best goddamn doctor in Oakdale. And he can enforce social distancing with the best of them.
But kidney transplant, his brain whispers, and compromised immune system, and all the other factors working against them.
Tomorrow, he’s taking leave from the hospital and locking down with Luke. He may be Oakdale’s best goddamn doctor, but the only patient he cares about is right here.
