A possible intervention [Micah and Gideon]
Who: Gideon and Micah Blackthorne.
When: About a year prior to Gideon's divorce.
Where: Silver City, the Royal Palace.
What: He's seen the marks on his younger brother's body, and Micah can't hold his tongue any longer.
Rating & Warnings: R for mentions of domestic abuse, violence/blood.
It was common knowledge that Micah wasn't "home" very often. At least when someone referenced the palace as being home. That wasn't his home, would never be no matter how long his parents and the rest of his family lived there. When he bothered to come around there was usually a reason and this time was no exception. He was there to see his brother, and for once it wasn't Lyzander that he was seeking. The occasional nod of acknowledgment was given to palace staff as he passed them in the halls, making an effort to not draw any more attention to himself than was absolutely necessary. A private conversation needed to be had between he and his younger brother, and that certainly couldn't happen if he was causing a stir with the staff. Not that he would ever do that. On purpose. Usually. Micah shook his head to clear his thoughts, brushing his hair back out of his eyes as he turned a corner, purposeful steps carrying him toward Gideon's quarters. He knew his brother was there, thanks to one of his informants in the palace. After all, just because he was rarely around didn't mean that he didn't want to know what was going on. In this case Micah had discarded what plans he had for the day and headed straight for the palace. Given his brother's marriage it was rare to catch him at the palace -- at least at the same time as when Micah was in the city -- and Micah could put off this talk no longer. Ever since his mind began to put the pieces together the current puzzle that was his younger brother was never far from his thoughts. That wing of the palace was quiet, which he expected particularly since his own quarters were near the end of the corridor. He had the absent thought that he hoped the maids were keeping it from getting dusty. If only the imprint of those who had occupied the rooms prior to Micah could be cleaned away, then he would truly be happy. Another shake of his head, this time with a little frustrated sigh directed at himself, and blue eyes were turning to lock on the door to the main room of Gideon's quarters. He paused outside it only long enough to determine that no one could be heard with his brother. Micah didn't knock, he simply twisted the handle and let himself in the room, shutting the door behind him and locking it before looking around for his brother. As he said, he wanted privacy. He may not have had his older brother's trick for blocking sound with the air, but Micah could improvise if he needed to. But he didn't think anyone was going to be seeking either of them out and any interruption was far more likely to come from one of their cell phones. "Gideon, we need to talk." The words were called out slightly, though not particularly loudly, and Micah moved toward the bedroom as he sought his brother. |
