Who: Paige and Keith
When: Noon
Where: Pool Room
Only the silence of an empty room greeted Paige as she pushed the door open. She hadn't truly wanted to swim. Rather she'd wanted to get away from the four walls that made up her room and not end up sitting somewhere with a lot of through-traffic. Besides, it gave her something to do other than sit and allow her thoughts to drown her. Lifting the candle she'd brought down a little higher to light the room, she scanned the darkness for signs of life. Her towels - one for her and one for her hair - were dropped onto a chair by the door to keep them dry. Then she tucked her gun beneith them, set the candle down on another chair, slipped off her jeans, and walked to the pool's edge.
There was only a second of pause, an intake of breath, and then she took a step forward to dive beneath the silent and still water. When she surfaced again, somewhere in the middle of the pool, she seamlessly transitioned into a freestyle swim, the first lap of many. For the most part, from there on out, it became only thoughts of her breathing, watching for the end of the lane line markings, and flip turning which entered her mind. Given she preferred to simply not think about everything, to bottle things as she‘d always done, not thinking about anything but the activity at hand was preferable.
It was sometime later, at the water-muffled sound of the door opening, she stopped and looked over her shoulder and peer through the candle flickering darkness. "Hey, My Hero," she greeted, a smile which looked slightly relieved on her lips. After a moment, she made her way through the water to the pool edge closest to him. "How've you been? And no one word answers today," she added quickly. As much as she didn't mind him being quiet, she also didn't want him to stay forever shy around her.
