Cael looked at his boyfriend, whose finger was on his lips. He kissed the tip, acquiescing. "You want to meet them. There's just my mom, my stepdad, and my sister. They'd like you. They won't understand why you are with me, but they would like you." That was something he didn't question. Of course, they would be a little surprised that Cael had settled down with a man, but with Chay's career, and obvious intelligence, he could win them over in five minutes flat. Cael would get the third degree, and they would express their concerns, his sobriety being the first, his faithfulness being the second. They would expect him to fail. "When I was using, my dependability rating went way down. They would probably say that I didn't deserve you."
He studied the drawing intently. He was determined to learn about them. Chay's level of interpretation was so much higher than his, but he had already decided that he was going to prove to the university that he was a worthy assistant.
