A Working Vacation..
Who: Chay / Cael
What: A Working Vacation
Where: On the Yucatan Penisula
When: March 18-25
Warnings: None - yet.. :)
FedEx arrived with the elusive Passport just as Chay had finished packing up his sampling equipment into two large duffels. It had been becoming harder and harder to evade Cael's questioning eyes and that impish smile that continued to ask the question about where they were bound in different ways, from the moment they had woken up, through the blond strands of hair in the shower, and would prolly continue on through the drive to the airport. Luckily for Chay he had kept his cellphone with him with their flight, hotel, and jeep rental information loaded onto it, secreted away and kept a tight lip to keep the surprise. He had already packed up his suitcases with a weeks’ worth of cut-off shorts, hiking boots that had seen better days, but still fit like a magical charm, and a couple packages of new [and wonderfully soft] Hanes t-shirts. Because what else do you need in the line of clothes where blue skies and blue waters vied for attention on most days? A single pair of jeans and blue jean jacket dumped in with the equipment bags rounded out the ensemble.
Coeur D’Alene was sending him [aka - them] to the Yucatán Peninsula to two different sites to investigate their silver and gold potential; and given the distance between the areas had authorized Chay with a full week in which to complete the prelim evaluations and write-ups before they sent a crew over from the Mexico facility to arrange for the purchase of the land and to begin processing of the minerals collected. In Chay’s mind, that meant two days of travel, two days of actual work and the remainder of the time in Cancun with Cael. Since he could write up the report from the template that he had created years ago that seemed to work with the upper mangement of Coeur.
It was the perfectly designed trip to have Chichén Itzá fall right smack in the middle on the Spring Equinox.
Amazing sometimes, how things just fall into the right places.
Chay didn’t reveal the surprise until they reached the airport check-in kiosk and handed off the paperwork to Cael to check-in the party and print their boarding passes while he filled out the tags for checking their baggage and the equipment duffels. His laughter almost exploded out when Cael figured out that airport code CUN meant Cancun, Mexico.
“Sorry it’s not as exotic as South America. I promise you a trip to Incan’s and Peru someday, but we are off to visit a different snake; along with a day or so of work for the mine, this time around. Hope you aren’t too terribly disappointed.”
