Batman/Scarecrow
I am locking this to you, not out of fear of what others might think, but out of respect for those involved's privacy.
I speak with these people daily, Luke. I see men and women who are deeply troubled, who have issues beyond normal comprehension. They pretend that they are fine, that they are healthy in body and mind. I see their confidence, their bravado, I see the masks they put on. And then, at night, when the nightmares begin and the terror leaks in, I see fear in them. And how it changes these people from who they are in the day to who they are at night, quaking in their beds.
All the talk in the world can only do so much. At night, there is nothing to guard these people from the monsters living in their heads. That is the fear. That is what I see. Yes, I am attuned to it in a way that is frightening in its intensity. And it has been long said that fear has a smell. Predators can feel it. Perhaps it flavors the air as well, and because of him, I feel that.
