Re: Bruce/Ra's
I would rather leave the corpses of billions in my wake than a scorched Earth that can sustain no more life.
[Only a slight pause.] I woke in the morning to find a herd of elephants crossing behind my home. They had several young ones with them, shy and hiding between the legs of the adults. I watched them for an hour as they moved, slowly, watching me, with their ears twitching and their tails smacking across their hides. They're beautiful creatures and they will stay together even if it means that one or both of them must die.
And when they were gone, only their wide footprints in the dust to show their crossing, I thought to myself about how much different the world would feel when it was lighter by a few billion bodies and smiled.
Even the most involved are driven by instinct, Detective. The preservation of self, to eat, to live, to have shelter, we reach for these things first. Only later does it become a self motivation -- what is going to be better for me? We all will ask this question of ourselves at one point. Sometimes, we will ask it many times in the course of our lives.
Only a man wearing rose colored classes would believe that we have lost touch with our baser natures. Humans will always seek to survive, even if it means pushing someone else down. Just look at those that looted, taking supplies from others who had a greater need.
Hope does not put food on the table or a roof over someone's head. And until you catch me, I will not stop, Detective.
