Now, you're not so foolish as to believe that. I helped Louis because, if I had not, we would both be dead. I've been close to the brink of oblivion before - I do not intend to ever return there simply because I have been tied against my will to a mortal creature with all the infirmities of humanity. But therein lies the crux. It is not good, or logical, for me to do him harm, now or in the future. So long as this situation goes on, I have every reason to protect him. It follows, does it not? And I admit to some fondness for him. He reminds me in his failings of someone I knew, once.
