Re: Christine D/Daniel W
[As she tries to find a way out of the trap.] Very good move, monsieur.
You will judge and simply not tell me. A zebra cannot change its stripes. I will refrain from telling you of your own avoidance of a funeral, oui?
[A pause and press of her pen's tip as she considers.] I saw a man and a woman. They lived together, and I saw this through the eyes of the man. He was numb, and she was leaving him, but he did not care. I asked myself, why was he with her? In your time, there is no expectation of marriage. Why live with someone if you do not care? Laziness, perhaps? It was the best I could determine. No need to look for someone for intimacy, but why engage in intimacy at all without any level of desire or passion? Or have things changed so much in the future that these things no longer matter?
