[News]
[After months of publicity, the kidnapping and child abandonment charges against Wren Maheu were officially dropped Saturday morning. A representative from the District Attorney's office stated that the recent deaths of the Johnsons made it increasingly unlikely that the already circumstantial case would be brought to trial. A unnamed member of the case's Grand Jury went on record saying that it would be "hard to prove a mother kidnapped her own child from people who weren't legally supposed to have him." Despite all charges being dropped, sole and permanent custody was granted to Luke Henry, the child's biological father, Saturday, without any parental rights granted to the mother. The protection order against Wren Maheu, which has been in effect since her arrest earlier this year, has been transferred to Luke Henry. Henry's lawyers had no comment on whether or not the order would remain in effect.]
