Re: Anon/Lin A
Give me a sec, this is hitting a little too close to home.
[Minutes pass. Anon goes to get something to eat.] So, look. Unfortunately, loving someone with an addiction or similar problem means you do stuff that they hate for their own good. I've had it done to me before and I didn't understand it at the time and I got really pissy about it because even grown ass Fairy God Mothers act like children when they don't get what they want. The fact is, if you write this guy a flowery bullshit love letter, it'll be just that. Bullshit. And, you're going to feel bad and he's going to know it's bullshit and that's not what love is about.
If you really love this guy, you get him help with the drinking. You have an honest conversation to see if he wants help. It's shitty and he's going to be shitty at you, but that's what happens when you fall for someone that's got broken stuff inside of them.
If you don't want to do that, don't write a letter at all. You're going to regret it.
