That's up to you. Short version - he can still try to get custody one day if he changes his tune. Really, it doesn't matter whether he's on the record or not, in that case. Like I said, he wouldn't be likely to win, but he could take you to court.
The only difference will be whether he looks like a deadbeat, or a guy who's been making his child support payments on time. Even if he looks like the latter, the fact that you had to force him to pay them would sway any jury in your favor. There are pros and cons, but I don't think either is a bad idea.
Any risk he'd try to hurt you or your son if you keep leaning?
