Yes sir. I can see why, sir.

[!] You were there too? What happened?

Nothing of import, Master Bruce. What is it that made you dislike parties so much?

This wasn't my first time, Alfred. I know what they can be like.

[...] I've never liked them, but in this case it's the absence of free will. We're forced to attend and act as we normally wouldn't, with people who are nothing more than strangers.

And all of us are in the same boat. Put it aside, Master Bruce. There's no point in fretting over how you are seen when no one knows who you are.

How I acted isn't what bothers me, not in the way it has before. [...] You've known me my entire life, Alfred. My communication skills leave much to be desired, don't they?

I think you could, moreso than anyone else.

You use other methods of communicating, Master Bruce.

My methods aren't enough. People want words, Alfred, and I can barely carry on a conversation with my own son most of the time. Then, last night [...] I spoke to a stranger. She could have been anyone and I told her things I wouldn't have had I been in my right mind. I'm not the sort of man who opens up easily, and I had that choice taken from me.

In my understanding, sir, these parties do exactly that. You were comfortable talking to a stranger because you were made to be comfortable. [...] You have always been a man of action, Master Bruce, rather than words, but words do help. Particularly with the children. It is comforting to know that you will be present but that comfort is more ably understood if you can convey it.

I'm never that comfortable. Even on good days it feels forced. [...] They do, and I struggle with them. It isn't that I don't care, but conveying it is difficult.

And when we fall down, we get back up again. Everything is difficult the first time, Master Bruce. Or were you born knowing how to run?

No. [Cursor blink.] You're right. I've never given up before, there's no reason for me to start now.
