[Ford makes a 'yes' sound without speaking, the way he does.
He heads back to the kitchen and uses some of the things he bought to make a soup. It's definitely the kind of thing you don't think of when you have the money to buy a can of the stuff. He takes apart yesterday's uneaten chicken sandwich, sticks the bread in the toaster, cooks up what's left in a broth with a cube of seasoning and some pepper. It's watery and has no noodles, because he serves the toasted bread like it's new and is good for dipping.
The smell of it has filled the apartment by the time he returns and taps on the door again.]
