"Incorrect" isn't the right way of saying it. I shouldn't have said that. My b. You're not wrong, per se, because that kind of shit is subjective and also, it's an idiom. I personally just try to curtail my use of implicative phrases. Language couches a lot of sociological, cultural beliefs that are largely sided with the reigning majority, yeah? I try to be aware, even if that makes me a nitpicky asshole.
Anyway, it's the phrase "if anyone deserves help (or x), Y does" that bothers me, personally. (I get into a lot of trouble for coming off like I think my personal beliefs are universal just because I am more often just aggressive, rather than passive aggressive, and I'm trying to curb that too.) But that saying and implied thought obvs assume one must deserve help, like desert comes into play at all, one must be worthy of intervention on the part of others? It's just [...] inhumane.
