does anyone have problems with picking at their scabs? i've been doing it for the longest but just realized that it's becoming a little problematic.
if you do, did you stop or are you still doing it? and if you did stop, how did you?

I've never picked at scabs but I always pick at piercings when they start crusting... which I really need to stop doing.

nope, my sister nearly had to have her leg amputated when she was eight because she picked her scabs and it led it osteomyelitis. that, the one month she spent bedridden, the two months she spent in a wheelchair, and the fact that she was on IV antibiotics for three months kinda scared me off from ever picking my scabs.

it's not as bad as it used to be for me, but i have some bad scarring from when i went through something really traumatic and was super stressed afterward and couldn't control my compulsion to do that. you'd think that would be enough to make me stop completely, but apparently not...
when i'm trying to discourage myself now, i try to find something else to do with my hands. i've also heard wearing a rubber band or tight hairband around your wrist and snapping it when you get the urge to do that can help you stop, but i've never tried that.
