What are my chances of getting a job if the place(s) I apply for know I'll only be there for 2 months? Should I even bother trying, or should I try to find other ways to save up money, like whore myself out to the neighbourhood for babysitting/housecleaning or anything else?
I'm going to San Diego in April to visit my BFF for a few months, and as of today I only have 168$ to my name. My parents, as a Christmas gift, are paying for my tickets there/from, but since I'm taking Greyhound down that's only about 200$ anyway.
And through some rough estimating, I need about 2000$ before April. I need to buy a laptop (the one I want is 800$), I want a new DSLR camera (about 600$), and other things like new clothes, new headphones (I'm not going to bother buying a new MP3 player because I can just use my laptop and cellphone while I'm there), and just other things. I also want spending money, so really, I'm asking for a miracle between now and April. I know that my parents will probably be more than fine to pay for things like clothes because they've been promising to take me to get a new warddrobe for months now, and I'm sure they'll help pay for the laptop, but everything else I'll be completely on my own for getting.
The reason I'm :/ about trying to get a job is because I'm pretty sure no one's going to want to hire me for 2 months, even if I was going to let them work me like a mule the entire time. I had an idea last night to put up flyers around the neighbourhood about babysitting/housecleaning, saying that I'd babysit for a flat rate of 30$ and an extra 10$ if they wanted me to do some chores like dishes/laundry/vaccuuming...
