to quit soft drinks, like ~us said, gradually work your way off them. the best substitute is crystal light or those propel flavors for water. you're still drinking the water so it's good for you, and it gives it flavor so you don't feel deprived of the flavor from soda. and when you go out, get the lemonade or fruit punch if you're looking for something with flavor and don't want the water. i had a serious addiction to mountain dew, and i altogether just stopped drinking it a month ago and drinking crystal light is just as good :) /end novel
