Kids make friends so easily. Em and the little blondie never even met before today but they hit it off in about two seconds.

I mean, it wasn't the world's most peaceful friendship -- I glanced away for like a second and they started fighting or something, and the other boy run up to his mum and started to tattle that Em had done something or other, I'm not actually sure what, I just know that I got instantly mad that he was accusing my baby. And I was just about to say something, but before I could do more than open my mouth the other mum said, "Matthew (or whatever his name was) you need to solve your own problems. If you don't like what he's doing, ask him to stop."

I was so surprised that I completely forgot to say anything, and it's a good thing I didn't because this is what happened next:

Matthew-or-whatever turned to Em, who'd followed him back over to us, and said very clearly, "Please not do that to me."

Em said, "Okay."

And they went right back to playing.

The moral of the story is, adults ruin everything. Or they can ruin everything or make everything better depending on how they use their powers. Point is kids are awesome.

Kids are also a fantastic excuse to buy amazing dresses, aka everyone is going to the youth league gala this weekend right, aka I will be the prettiest of all the princesses at the ball, just watch me.

Despite the hangover and the not-enough-sleep and all of it, I regret nothing.

Well, maybe the bit where we woke them up. Maybe got a bit too loud there. (But really, like we can be blamed.)

Sorry about him jumping on you in the morning. Four year olds don't know the meaning of hangover, apparently. Still. Better you than me?

I'm pleased that Emmerdale made a new friend.

Less pleased that he did something to upset him.

Pleased again that they resolved it.

This is an eventful day.

Very eventful! The whole saga is like an emotional rollercoaster.

Truly an epic tale, madam.

And how is our head feeling, today?

He's quite the little adventurer. And I have a way with words.

It's seen better days, but I struggle on. You should be extra nice to me. I'm suffering with a brave little heart.

But if I pamper you through this affliction, it'd encourage the bad behaviour that led you here.

Bad behaviour! There was nothing bad about my behaviour last night. Everything I did last night was entirely reasonable and justified.

Uh-huh.

Since you've seen everyone's favourite Cannon dissected, now, do we get our date nights back? Or shall we keep laughing at Miss Crumb? I think I'm fine, either way.

Date nights, obviously. We can laugh at Ada any old time, and it's such a pain to try and move date night around. It's like people aren't altering their schedules just to suit ours!

Truly. You'd think they'd know by now that our time is far more precious than theirs.

And our time together is more important than any time they have doing anything else at all.

Some people are so conceited, honestly.

Why would I ever want to do that?

Ah, kids are great, really. We adults could take a page from their book at times.

I'll look forward to seeing you in your pretty princess dress on Saturday.

Right? None of our feuding and rivalries. They just get it over and done with and get back to the good stuff. Meanwhile, I was ready to blame Blondie even though I really have no idea what happened.

Brace yourself for it! I will be stunning. I'm expecting at least a dozen blokes to go rushing off to fight a dragon for me.

What's there to regret? That was AMAZING.

Minus that bit, especially since it meant that they knew I was there to wake up in the morning. And while you are SO KIND, there are worse ways to wake up. It's hard to stay mad at that face.

So the gala thing, what are you wearing? I probably should have planned this better.

Possibly the vulgar way we guzzled my husband's expensive wine, depending on who you ask...

He does have a cute little face, doesn't he? Good genes. And I thought for sure he'd have forgotten about you by morning, but apparently Auntie Rory staying over is like Christmas.

You don't have a dress yet???? WE ARE SHOPPING.

Isn't that what wine is for?

Yeah, he does. Looks just like his da, doesn't he? Ha. Guess I'll enjoy being the next best thing since Christmas while it lasts though.

You know me and dates, I forgot it was this weekend! Shopping? Bollocks.

I think really cultured people slowly sip it or something, giving it proper time to blah blah blah blah. I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

All but the hair. Gaius has never in his life had hair that wild. And yeah, best enjoy it while you can, though I'm pretty sure that everyone's comments about how awful the teenage years are won't actually apply to my children.

Well how else do you expect to get one? It's not gonna just drop from the sky and fit perfectly and be gorgeous and flattering. Come on come on come on, it'll be fun!

Eh, when we become cultured people we can worry about that.

Are you kidding, do you REMEMBER being a teenager? Ha.

I know, I know. I just hate shopping. Fine, fine. You want to meet me here? As much as I love seeing the kiddos, it will take us twice as long to get out if they see me.

You'll never be cultured with an attitude like that. ...but that's okay. My man is plenty cultured, I don't need more culture in my life.

Sort of kinda vaguely. But I wasn't that bad so they can't possibly be.

Shopping is FUN when you are shopping for awesome things with awesome people. It'll be brill. And yeah, good call, I'll meet you there -- especially cause if Sophie hears dresses she'll want to come along, and if Em doesn't hear dresses he'll want to come and then he'll get bored and I'll have to chase him around and it won't be fun anymore. Kidless awesome dress shopping!

Kids! Absolutely, they're world famous for their diplomatic skills and their ability to not find something new to fight over every five minutes.

Okay fine maybe I wouldn't send them to go negotiate with the giants or anything but as much as they get fighting every five minutes they get over it pretty fast too.
