The 74th Hunger Games Victor's Ball
Who: Open to all past and current victors, Gamemakers, and Capitol residents
What: The Victor's Ball, which follows the conclusion of the Victory Tour
Where: President Stane's mansion
This year's theme had clearly been chosen with Wanda Maximoff's home district in mind. President Stane's mansion was brimming with every sort of technological marvel District Three was able to produce. There were shimmering light displays, bursts of multi-colored pyrotechnics, and huge television screens strung up in every corner of the room, replaying highlights from this year's Games.
A usual, the tables were straining under the weight of the food that had been piled upon them. There were heavy tureens of creamy soups, spicy dips and artistically-arranged hors d'oeuvres, settled in between delicately roasted quails, steaming platters of venison, and on each table, a suckling pig, complete with apple in its mouth. Scattered readily amongst the rich assortment of culinary delights were trays of thin-stemmed glasses, filled with a clear liquid. Stuffed guests scooped one of these glasses up every once in a while, then disappeared from the party, only to return minutes later with empty stomachs, ready to try a new assortment of gourmet foods.
Certain corners of the room also featured incredibly realistic recreations of the muttations that had been featured in the 74th Hunger Games. Guests squealed with terror and delight upon realizing that if they got too close, the muttations sprang to life, growling and snapping at their fingers, eyes lit up with an artificial, electronic glow. News of the animatronics spread like wildfire through the banquet hall, and soon guests were lining up to have their pictures taken with the oh-so-clever robots.
Music filled the room, occasionally drowned out by the screams of dying tributes that blared forth from the replayed footage, though not many people were dancing. It was still early in the evening, after all, and most attendees hadn't even made it through their third round of food yet.
