Who: Bucky Barnes, Thor Odinson
What: Photoshoot!
Where: District 8, outside Bucky's house.
When: Set just before the session with Steve.
Rating: Likely low, will add warnings if needed.
Bucky hated when they brought the cameras to 8. He liked going to the Capitol more than them bringing the Capitol to him. He didn't like EITHER of them - but it was better. When photographers and stylists and all trooped off the train and through town to the Village, it reminded the people in 8 that he existed, and the they weren't fans anymore. Bucky preferred when the Capitol remembered him and his own District mostly ignored him in favor of Steve. (It was the opposite in the Capitol, where Steve was unfashionable - though recent events might swing him upward - and Bucky was at least passably popular.)
But it was just photographs. Bucky gave pretty decent photoshoot, and it was easier than the vids where he had to talk. He guessed the theme was some kind of bullshit about how settled 8 was, and they were proving it by taking pictures of its Victors at home, or around it, with other people.
Bucky had half expected Tony (and dreaded it), or Natasha, but Thor was a surprise. Bucky didn't know if the guy had ever been in 8, aside from his Tour. There were photos getting taken at the Justice Building later, Bucky had heard some of the crew saying. Bucky didn't have an invite to those, probably set to be with Steve. Bucky wasn't exactly sad he didn't have to do two sets. There were Peacekeepers lurking outside where the gardens outside the village had been seeded with fresh flowers and staged, but not many. Whenever anything happened in 8 these days, there were Peacekeepers nearby.
Bucky posed with Thor, smiling, shaking hands (right handed), and making a show of it. The hold-up came because of the damn garden, when the photographer decided the flowers were the wrong color, and promptly had assistants yanking them up to replant new ones.
Sometimes, Bucky was struck anew by how fucking stupid things the Capitol did were. But he got a break, anyway, so he took it, slinking off toward his house where, thankfully, no one was trying to come in.
He stopped when he saw Thor off to the side, waiting for the next set of pictures too. Bucky hesitated. They weren't close. Thor mostly stuck to himself in 2, and Bucky didn't know him well, had never had much of a solid read on him. But they were in the same boat, so he went over after a second. "You want to come in? I was gonna make coffee," Bucky offered. When Thor agreed, Bucky led him in, closing the door hurriedly after him - half so no one would try to follow him, and half in case Moo was lurking around the door, even though Bucky had left her in his room just in case. (Which meant his pillow was probably murdered right about now.) There was no sign of her though, and Bucky just led Thor through to the kitchen, putting coffee on to brew and gesturing him to sit down at the table if he wanted to. "Wrong flowers," Bucky said, dry as a desert, eyes rolling. "Bet those kids didn't think they were signing on to work as gardeners when they got the job."
