"Simple enough." Bucky's honesty was a refreshing break from the cloud of veiled comments and two-faced replies that has been choking him for weeks. Thor was not as certain about his own ability to speak his mind as the Victor sitting across from him seemed to be. Slowly, that one valued trait that he cherished in himself started to vanish behind the character he was being turned into and his hesitance to even say anything that might have been out of line even outside of the range of spying eyes angered himself. He was scared for good reason, but that did not mean that he had to love the person he was becoming.
Strangely, despite the cowardice that sat firmly in his own heart, Thor was not afraid of death. In so many of his dreams, he died and it was always waking up the morning after that bothered him. There was no fear for the afterlife when it was all spent on fear of this life. Did Thor actively seek death? No. But he would welcome it whenever it came for him. It was the purest form of emptiness and escape and that was all he wanted; to escape.
"I cannot imagine many outside their gilded walls truly do," was Thor's response. Steering clear of the public eye, remaining detached from the webs of social intrigue had been Thor's ultimate goal since he was let loose from the Games, from his Victory Tour, from being a plaything of the Capitol. It was a foolish hope, he realized that now. Once again entangled in the strings that tied so many lives together, Thor knew it would not be so simple to escape this time. He doubted he would be able to at all. That was the price he paid for fourteen years of shackled freedom.
It was hardly worth it.
"I have more or less been moved out of Two for the time being." Though he knew he should be more conscious to not sound as if he was being forced or coerced, he somehow doubted this conversation coming back to hurt him later even if it was spoken about. No proof of his words would leave this room and this was likely to be one of the last times he can be so honest, as if this was real honesty. "If circumstances permit, then I would be honored to accept your offer." Thor was, not shockingly, a stranger to unadulterated hatred and he could not help but smile inwardly at the idea of someone having no qualms facing him and telling him so. "From my understanding, yes."
