LEE: Welcome to another riveting round of Potterwatch, dear listeners. It's River here and I'm joined here today by two of my excellent vigilante colleagues, Aubergine and Thistle. Regulars Romulus, Royal, and Rodent will not be featured on this episode.
ANGELINA: Hi, I’m Aubergine! Poor Rodent, though. You know he prefers Rapier.
KATIE: Thistle here, I'm really pleased to be here. We've got some interesting news, right?
LEE: We do indeed! The Order of the Phoenix helped a few Wandless people out of Diagon Alley, and the DMLE and Death Eaters can piss off, really. The Order has always strived to help everyone, and especially those that cannot fend for themselves. And if I do say so myself, the dragons were a tad impressive, weren't they? Rapier-slash-Rodent and I engaged in that… Anyway. The point being, the several Wandless people have been rescued and we are going to name the ones that we can. Aubergine, would you like to start us off?
ANGELINA: The thing I think the Death Eaters really wants us to forget is that these are people — human beings — who had lives before they used the Ministry to take them away. There’s at least one person out there who knows them. Take Nathan and Nicole O’Connor, for example. Nathan left Hogwarts in 2013 and Nicole in 2015. They were both Gryffindors. Nathan even worked at the Ministry until they stole his wand from him and sacked him. And Nicole was working at Honeydukes because she said she’s always dreamed of making sweets. You’ve probably eaten something she created.
KATIE: It's easy for people to try forget how much the Wandless were and should be part of our lives, we shouldn't sweep them under the rug just because the Ministry want us to. I know of someone who left Hogwarts a decade ago, Lauren Lynch, who was rescued today. She was working on discovering new hybrids of magical plants before someone turned her in to the MRC and took her wand from her. I hope Lauren has the freedom to study her plants in the future.
LEE: And there was, of course, Gordon Peters, who at 60, is such a damn trooper. All he'd really wanted to do was go home and make sure his family had gotten to safety and to make sure that his innocent loved ones weren't killed just because some people have personal vendetta against non-pure-bloods. But I, for one, hope that Gordon and his family members are safe at home. Did you know, Aubergine and Thistle, that he was considering opening a coffee shop to rival Starbeaks?
ANGELINA: I didn’t, but I wish he had. I bet his Cupid Latte would’ve done exactly what it says on the tin. Speaking of family, though, today Lacey-Mae Conrad was rescued. She’s a mother of three boys who spent each long and grueling month wishing she could see her own family again. And you know, everyone knows her husband Eliot Conrad, the guy who wrote Searching for Hogsmeade and A Proliferation of Susans, but he’s the first one who’d credit his wife for some of his best ideas.
KATIE: And now she'll keep having them, I bet. The final person rescued today was my fellow Scot, Reginald MacArthur, a devoted single father who hasn't seen his baby boy since September. He worked on security at the Ministry and took long shifts to provide for his son. That's a reunion I hope to hear of very soon.
LEE: Me as well, Thistle, me as well. These six people have faced so much in these past few months and to think that it was all because of something they have no control of is ridiculous. Where does it stop for these so-called purists and Death Eaters and the Chief Death Eater, as well? It doesn't matter because they are full of shit. We are watching you, and we will fight for what's right.
ANGELINA: Too right, we will. They’re all idiots for thinking everyone would just stand by while they do this.
KATIE: And we’ll keep fighting them, we’ll keep working on ensuring the safety of everyone threatened by them bit by bit.
LEE: If you're afraid or scared to act, we do understand and if you need the extra help, please reach out to us on Hooter. We will be more than happy to assist you in any way possible. Yeah, Aubergine?
ANGELINA: Yes! Day or night, someone’s always watching it. We’re just a DM away!
LEE: Alright, well that wraps this episode. Haven't got much more to add. Anything from you, Thistle?
KATIE: None from me.
LEE: Great! That's all, then. Have a great day, everyone, and as our old friend used to say, constant vigilance! Bye!
