Who: Kazuya, Kou, bus-stop passengers.
What: Talkings.
Where: Bus stop of doom.
When: After school.
Why: So I herd u are doctor.

Kazuya had started taking the after-school bus. In all relativity, he could have just walked the distance to his home in a comfortable amount of time. It would have been easier and cheaper to do so, but it also ran the risk of people seeing him. Certain people. One certain person. And on the bus, there wasn't any risk of that. Well, not a large one anyway. It wasn't as if the person were watching all of the bus transactions from the school, and he'd laid out a plan quite efficiently to avoid all chances of that.

But in truth, there was a double-meaning to his decision of taking the bus. There was one student.. Oubai? Something like that. He'd seen him a few times in their group before. But that wasn't important. What was important was his interests, which involved physician work. Wanted to be a doctor or something like that. Which meant that he would have studied up on such doctor-things, which meant he could help. It was a belated conclusion, but he'd found after some asking around that one Oubai took the after-school bus. So, why not? There was a chance they'd run into each other if he kept taking the bus.

It's what brought him to the present, having deliberately made his way to the spot earlier than usual for a chance of spotting his target. His books neatly organized in a bag which hung from the grip of his left hand, and himself merely lounging in the spot, with a book in hand. Reading always helped to pass the time, and it calmed the mind. Besides, the author was one of brilliance, even if his work was only compiled into thirteen chapters. Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

A slight shrug of the shoulders was the response chosen. From the other's body language and stance, there wasn't much of a chance at conversation with this one. Yet there was a nagging disposition about the man that had a tint of familiarity. Was it the voice? There'd been a variety of others with.. Oh.

"The same is better than change, I suppose." That blissful, relatively vacant smile remained. "If you'll excuse the frank manner of speaking, your name is Oubai-san, no?" He turned slightly to face the other individual, head canted on a slight incline.

All in his stance neatly organized to portray that of nothing else but one trying to make friendly conversation.

“Yes, and I would like to know who's asking,” he replied, watching the stranger tipping his head back so their line of sight was pushed, the road bustling with traffic and smoke and noise.

“I don't mean to sound rude. I was hoping for some peace and quiet."

He had to clamp a hand over his mouth to stop himself from coughing violently. From this boy's formal use of his name, the guess was he wanted something. Strangers often ignored names at waysides. Well, at least the bus would come soon.

"Fair enough." The smile stretched a touch, almost as if it were forced to such an extent. "My name is Arai. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." In formality, Kaz took to a short bow, before resuming the stance he'd held before. Mechanized, practiced politeness.

"I'll strive to keep this short, then. I was wondering if I could ask you a question from your experience. It came to my knowledge that you were studying for a career as a physician, and that area of expertise is where my matter lies." His hand extended outwards to the side, as if the closing gesture to the explanation.

Kou took the matters of the issue one at a time - doctoring was something he wanted to do, but he was mistrustful of how Arai had come to possess the information to know this. He was also inexperienced and the kind of person who took pride knowing he was not going to suggest anything based on knowledge taken from books. Anyway, he was not going to bow to pressure imposed from people he didn't see much of.

He took the glasses off his nose with a gentle touch and a reminder that he needed to tell others to mind their business. They were cleaned with his sleeve as he was thinking.

"Hmn. It would be irresponsible. I'm not qualified, so whilst I appreciate your time I don't know if I can help properly."

A brow was raised in response. "You put yourself in too low of a light, Oubai-san. I would only ask a simple question about cause and effect. It's not so deep of a matter, and surely you would be capable?"

It was slightly disappointing to see an initial refusal to his query, if only in the ways of Oubai having doubts on his own skills. Perhaps he'd heard wrong? Still, the other man hadn't outright denied any association with the medical arts, so there was definitely a chance. At the very least, he could be persistent. It was a question that was essential to further things. Without it, he might have had to refer to another, more dangerous source. Asking the wrong questions around the wrong people could only lead to more harm than good. If anything, Oubai didn't seem the person to chatter away about the matters of daily life. And that meant there was little chance he'd go telling others about being approached by a fellow classmate about something like this.

Everything would work out.

The other's suggestion that capability, contrary to all the time and effort that he'd invested, was not a quality he possessed led Kou to exhale a large breath and believe he should be helping that guy after all - not to prove him incorrect but to help him. He seemed to need it, and that made a difference beause he could not face entering that profession otherwise.

He looked down the road for a moment. Would the bus come? Lacking its arrival, he would have to talk a while more. He then chose to lower his bag because the weight of his books had not completely immobilised him, but they were a pain.

He shrugged once. "I don't like immodesty. What do you want?"

The way the words sounded might have been abrupt, but there was nobody Kou had asked a question of from whom he wanted no answer.

"Well. It's a bit complicated, but I'll try to explain it fully." The smile was born anew as the affirmation of inquiry at least being addressed was renewed. At the very least, he'd get some input, and that was what mattered.

"On my off time, I'm writing a bit of a novel on a murder mystery. It follows a police force trying to distinguish a serial killer from a series of homicides. The difficulty is, I want something about the killer's methods to be ambiguous and hard to follow. Yet, I'm not very well.. you know, I don't know much about that. I was thinking the killer would be using a bladed object, and killed so that death was near-instantaneous, or very painful and drawn out. Do you know which veins or arteries or parts of the body that would conclude in such deaths, if assaulted with a bladed weapon?"

A moment passed because of the request. Kouchisei strokes his chin, almost as if he thought there was another reason - why come and ask such a thing that was easily researched? His hand rose to cusp his chin, because he did not think he could talk about it otherwise. The only satisfaction he got was knowing Arai was not the killer.

"It depends where it enters the body, I guess." He thought about the crime shows he watched, where lacerations to the wrist appeared like suicide but were a plot to hide murder. "Perforation of the lung. Internal organs. The heart. The skull. All you have to do is sever a main artery, or one serving a main organ," he added, shrugging. "But why me? There's books about this. The internet, even."

Kazuya watched with an unblinking countenance as Kou detailed the areas of greatest lethality. Like if he dared blink, he might lose some trace of knowledge which would cause the rest to fall apart uselessly. In truth, he was shamed to say he knew none of it before it was said. He'd never really been a fan of that type of television, like that American CSI nonsense. At the end, his smile disappeared, and he nodded in thanks.

"The information is greatly appreciated. And I would, but I don't have the luxury of a computer, or much free time to be spending in the school library. You're the easiest source."

The reason was a flimsy one, he acknowledged it even as the words spilled out of his mouth. But it would have to do. It wasn't like Oubai would be looking into this anymore than the question he'd asked, would he?

Suddenly, however, he smiled again. "Did you know, that a medical backround could make for a huge advantage in a murderer? I've read that knowledge of the human body, and how it reacts to certain substances can result in almost traceless manners of homicide. Simple household chemicals can be the difference between life and death, if you know how to use them."

Maybe he liked that those programmes because they used technical terms, Kou thought. He was the best person for pointing out inadequacies and so, perhaps naturally, those shows gave him a direction for anger, frustration, and the desire to feel better by putting something down - ones that were not human, at that. He did not look away from the smiling face, with its lies and faux air of harmony.

These motives were suspect, yes, but his legs were heavy, his knees stiff, and he just wanted to get to school and then home to bed. His eyes narrowed. He was going to save lives, not destroy them. He'd never heard anything so absurd.

"Are you insinuating I'm a murderer? I know that, of course. Doesn't mean I'll act on it. Why are you asking these things?"

Kaz's smile split to reveal teeth. Oh, the situation turned far more amusing than he could have thought. While he had initially been attempting to point out something as a matter of fact, the effect had turned far different than he had anticipated. Well, yes, in a way he supposed he had insinuated someone of medical backround could be responsible and capable for murders. But Oubai?

Looking him over, he hardly seemed the type to raise a weapon or think of that sort of thing too indepth. Would he? Kazuya had to admit he knew nothing of the other man. He'd only heard a few things of him, and he seemed to talk with enough sophistication to separate him from a great deal of his other classmates. Well. It didn't matter.

"I'm not insinuating anything, Oubai-san. Perhaps you are looking too deeply into my words? I was only asking because of its importance to the novel."

Kou's glasses were pushed up his nose. The smile displayed by Arai was something far more unnerving than what he thought it should be. Peering through fingers, he supposed he believed the worst of everyone - and held a fervant belief that it was the same mistrust he kept hidden inside when he contacted so-called friends. Was Arai like that? He smiled but seemed discontent. Perhaps he was reading too deep. Sometimes there were things it was not his mind to know.

"Well I gave you an answer. Was it what you were looking for?" he replied firmally - where was that bust?

Kazuya nodded his head gently. "As much as I could have asked for from you. Thank you. Information is a very vital thing in life, and those who provide it are some of the most valuable entrepreneurs around." Raising the book up that he had been previously reading, he wagged it in the air slightly to indicate it.

"This is one of the books that stresses that fact. It says that if you know yourself, and you know the enemy, you will never lose in a hundred battles. The battle is already won. You merely need to step out into the field and claim it."

However, he paused, clicking his tongue sharply. "Although that raises the question: who is the enemy? It's scary to think that the person we fight against could be so close and amongst us. Even living with us day to day. The enemy could be ourselves."

Kouchisei's face was expressionless. Self-help books were pieces of trash that made people think they were better than what they could be. Believing self-confidence was important led to wrongness when it was fervantly believed. Casting his gaze around the previously empty stop, he looked at the passengers assessfully. One dressed as though he were capable of bravado but his clothes were so garish, the third student had no right to be at his age, nor the woman outfitted like a secretary.

There was always somebody above you, social or parental. Still, he believed it was criminal that people made so much out of confidence tricks. Yet, this had not been such because that quote was famous. The book it was from applied to everything from the home to war.

He made a noise, nodding appreciatively. The talk was almost over. He had nearly struggled to think of something to say. "It's good literature."
