Who: Renju, Kozue.
What: Swimsuit shopping.
Where: Outside the dorms, then around the city.
When: Between dungeon and beach trip.
Why: Embarrassing middle-school swimsuit needs to go.

Renju was less nervous about some Paradise trips than she was now.

On occasion, she'd talk to some other people on the team outside of a school- or Paradise-related context--Keiichi or Misaki about club business, her classmates about schoolwork (most often Kou these days, with cram school on her mind), or the occasional chance meeting in the Butterfly Room. She could manage these well enough (certainly better than she'd been able to before any of this had happened), and though she wasn't precisely comfortable with it yet, it was at least becoming familiar.

Outside of this pattern, which had jarred her nerves a bit, was Kozue texting her about the beach trip. Renju was still ambivalent on the matter; large social situations made her uneasy, and it wasn't as though she'd be doing anything but sitting around reading, which she could do just as well at home (though she'd at least been paired room-wise with Toshimi, which meant that nothing would be expected of her there). But as soon as she'd admitted that she had nothing really suitable for beachwear, in an attempted excuse that quickly backfired badly on her, Kozue had insisted that the situation be rectified.

And so here she was, waiting for her kouhai, clad in a conservative light-sweater-and-skirt pair that was a bit threadbare, having served her since middle school. Size aside, there was probably no way the two of them could contrast more.

Kozue took the stairs two at a time as she headed for the entrance of the dorms—shopping was exciting, of course, but she was also a bit tardy and she could just imagine that Renju was the type of person who disapproved of tardiness. Either way—and for both reasons—Kozue had to slow down, down, waaaay down, so that she didn't slam into a door or catapault out of the front doors looking a complete idiot.

She smoothed the front of her skirt—part of a 'summer set' that her mother had sent her, pastel and a bit pouffy but very, very Kozue—fixed at her hair briefly and almost ineffectively, and then stepped out front. She caught sight of Renju momentarily, and waved, and, oh god what was that upperclassman wearing, oh god they needed to go shopping even more than Kozue had previously thought, didn't they.

She came over, calling "Good afternoon!" and smiling, in that typical cheerful Kozue manner.

Renju had just been pulling out her cell phone to check the time (or check for texts; her ringer was usually set to silent or vibrate, so it was easy to miss incoming messages) when the sound of the dorm doors opening diverted her attention. As she slid the phone back into her bag, she greeted Kozue with a smile that was more fleeting and nervous than Kozue's own. "Good afternoon, Kozue-san."

Normally clothes didn't make her feel self-conscious. She'd never been a fashion plate, never would be, and never had any desire to be. But given the context of what they were meeting for in the first place, seeing the outfit Kozue wore made her far too conscious of her own.

A faint flush spread across her cheeks; the reason for it was much less pleasant than the last Kozue-related bl--why was she even thinking about that, it wasn't as if she even... Once she'd gotten her brain calmed down a bit, she spoke up again. "Um, I'm not sure we really need to do this. I don't have that much money, and I do own a swimsuit already..."

"A swimsuit?" Kozue asked, carefully, studying Renju for a moment. Had the older girl been blushing? Had it anything to do with what Satou had told her at the waterpark? It had, it seemed, been true about Suzume-neesan, so… either he had lied about one and told the truth about the other, or Renju had also been staring at her butt.

Was Kozue an awful enough person to find out? This, at least, Kondo Kozue knew the answer to; for the moment, at least, curiosity was a very safe way to avoid awkwardness. If it was a game, it wasn't a serious problem, right? But she had more to say—"You'll need more than one for the beach, you know. And, if money is a problem, we can always go bargain hunting. I know the best places," she finished with a grin that pretty plainly said you're not getting out of this, nope nope nope.

(OOC: Meant for that to be "Kondo-san".)

"I don't really think..." Even Renju could read that grin. It was too late at this point for her to protest that she had work to do, or ought to be concentrating on Paradise, or needed to... she didn't really have a lot of excuses. Wash her hair? Wasn't that the stereotypical one? Somehow she doubted Kozue would fall for it.

"Um, I'm not sure why I'd need more than one." That point honestly did baffle her, though. "There should be laundry facilities, right?" If not, well, she was sort of stuck. She wasn't entirely sure she even had two weeks' worth of clothes.

"Yeah, but wearing the same suit repeatedly stresses it out. Like, the fabric." Kozue paused, knowing that 'stress' wasn't exactly the most logical way to describe fabric, but… "It'd be worse if you were wearing it in chlorine but even in the ocean, it'll get salty—and it'd need time to dry after you washed it." She paused. "Besides, why wouldn't you want more than one? Wouldn't you get bored wearing the same one the entire time?"

Kozue herself was busy collecting—she now had four swimsuits but had determined that five was a good, sensible number.

Sensible. Really, really sensible.

"Oh, and, knowing Satou-senpai's family, there will probably be a laundry service," she added, mostly an afterthought.
