Flying Pigs and Polite Conversation
Who: Kiriko and Reizo
What: Surprising amounts of cordiality.
Where: The roof of the school.
When: After School
Why: Kiriko's having a rarer sort of bad day.

Kiriko sat on the ground near the door of the roof, her knees drawn up to her chest with one arm tucked beneath them just to keep her skirt up. The other held her cell phone, flipped open to a text from almost ten minutes ago. She frowned at the screen - she wasn't reading it anymore, but found herself habitually flipping the phone open and staring, as though expecting the message to suddenly disappear if only she willed it away hard enough. Sighing through her nose, she flipped the phone closed. Her head hit the wall she was leaning against with a soft 'thunk' as she tipped it back and closed her eyes.

Shirai was supposed to be here, but good for him if he ditched. She hadn't bothered to cancel their meeting, but was more than content to suddenly have some alone-time available. She couldn't go home yet - the text had implored her to. Apparently, her parents were trying to reach her there since she'd blocked the number on her cell for the time being. Her roomate was sick of the ringing.

Like she cared.

Moments later, Kiriko flipped open her phone to the text screen again.

“Sure,” he agreed, a little more amiably and quickly than he meant to. He didn’t seem to catch it though, he was engrossed in studying the tops of the other buildings. He cast a wary eye upwards to the gathering storm clouds, still a ways in the difference and gave a shrug of his broad shoulders. If it was going to rain, he’d have ample time to hop down and scurry back inside the building.

“Who would I tell it to?” He snapped defensively. He was unsure of why he was defensive, but there it was. “You think you come up in my day-to-day conversations, ice queen? All your fan boys stay well away from me.”

He huffed and laid back down, snuffed out his cigarette and rolled over onto his side, trying his best to squeeze a little more out of what sunlight was left. He frowned, eyes closing as he tried to think of just where his dream would’ve gone had Ikeda not woke him up by slamming the door earlier.

His tone caught her off guard and she almost winced. What he said, though, confirmed what she had figured earlier. Still, she couldn't figure out why he was talking to her like that... Was he mad because she was implying he'd talk about her or mad because she was implying he couldn't keep a secret? Maybe it was neither.

"... Sorry," she murmured. That must have been the third time today and the word was starting to sound strange on her tongue. She moved to leave, but apparently hadn't finished doing things she'd later regret, and so stepped back from the doorway, looked up to Reizo and added, "Um... Thanks," before wrenching the door open and descending the stairs a little more quickly than usual.

An eye shot open at the odd, strangled thank you, and he lifted up off the roof just in time to hear the door slam shut again. A sigh, and he plopped back down, folding his arms behind his head and just staring up at the sky. Stupid Ikeda-bitch.
